I have a 2008 V6 Does anyone know the size of the axle shaft at the front wheel seal? I was told it was 70mm but the Timken 710573 seal I bought shows it for a 72.542mm shaft.

That seal # under many manufactures is correct between the CV shaft and the steering knuckle you replace when you put a new wheel/hub bearing assembly in the front.
You will have to clean the rust off the knuckle and lightly use 3M pad on the seal metal to get it to fit into the knuckle and use a block of wood possibly to pound in straight.

Thank you. I just replaced all the CV boots, but one of the axles just bumped the seal when I was installing it. The seal looked good and I could not see a any damage at all, but I thought it would be a good idea to replace it. I bought my truck new in 2008 and only have 88,000 miles on it, I live in California and have almost no rust anywhere on it. This is the first the dust caps have been off in over 15 years and this is what they looked like.

Are you talking about the one that goes into the spindle?

If so, here is the measurements of the extra I had.
