2008 Tacoma 4x4 6speed manual trans. Should I use conventional or synthetic gear oil?

    I live where it gets cold in the winter. Unsure if I should use conventional or synthetic transmission oil 75W90 and what brand is best. Thank you!upload_2024-3-16_13-36-0.png

    both works.

    I’ve used both. And different weights. Just pulled out old diff that had BG syn 75w140 looked fine. Next diff put in ECGS recommended SAE 85w140 Lucas that I believe is non synthetic.

    I had Redline MT90 but switched to what Amsoil recommends
    Don’t know if I’ll keep using it

    the MT90 felt kinda thick cold
    The Amsoil generally feels fine until it gets hot where it feels thin

    Little bit of stuff.
    I've been running Redline MT90 in my trans for about 80k mi, currently at 302k. still shifts like butter once she's warmed up. Highly recommend.

    I've used Redline and the Ford XT-M5. Two rounds of each.
    No real difference, that I noticed, other than the Ford offering shifting much better 20 F and lower when cold.
    Amsoil is up next.
