BSM Not working 2016 Tacoma

For my 2016 Limited Tacoma, BSM not working, what is the most common reason it’s broken? So far it looks like the drivers side harness to the monitor is getting water or dirt in at the connection. Any other usual suspects for not working BSM?

 

Here is the TSB on the BSM for 2016-2018 Tacomas. You are probably out of warranty, but this link should give you some info to decide if you want to troubleshoot it yourself or take it in.

I’ll figure out the fault code & find out if it’s the switch or the sensors

 

What lead up to the failure? What were you doing when it quit?
Mine will fail after prolonged driving on the beach. Others have complained about failures after prolonged driving in snow / slush.

No I wasn’t doing anything, the indicator light on the switch doesn’t come on, and system doesn’t work at all. I just bought the truck & it came like that

 

Do you live where they use salt/brine. They are know to corrode bad. Salt/brine gets inside of them. I've seen some that were half gone inside of housing. They'll stop working with mud or snow packed up in rear bumper corners.

 

I live in North Ontario lots of salt & ice.
Yes I’ll replace the sensors when it warms up in the spring

 

They are very expensive, and have to be calibrated by dealer when replaced. Try to spray/ keep bumper clean on backside.

Check connections to them first. Clean connections and put some dielectric grease on them. There is a few threads on here showing corrosion on connections and corroded sensors.

 

Individual purchase would mean you're on your own.

If dealer purchase did you get a 30 day warranty or something?
