I had banking, HELOC, homeowners, multi-vehicle with them before cancelling the auto insurance. They quoted me an additional $236 a month to add my son. Switched companies w/o hesitation. Now I pay $135.00 a month for two cars and my son! I was shocked USAA wouldn't even try...

    @jrgrieve

So, you pay strictly for auto insurance...$135/month with your son as a rider? (Is there anyone else on your policy besides you?) (I don't want to assume you're married)

    Roughly, $810 every 6 months...$1620 annually?

I logged in to check and it's $159.20 a month for two vehicles (Tacoma and Mini Cooper). My son has only been licensed since August and is only 17. Definitely better than anything USAA has going.

My wife's Genesis is in the shop for an extended period after hitting a filing cabinet on the interstate in the dark. 2021 Tahoe as a rental for the full duration of repair time with no time limit. Have home and car with USAA and have filed claims on many cars and the house. Never an issue, and never noticed a rate increase after a claim. Who knows, maybe the next claim will be a completely different experience, but as for now I'm very happy with them.

The real difference in insurances is after the claim, not just the premiums.

    That's cool.

It's just my wife and I--both of us are over 50 for the following vehicles:

    2017 Hyundai Elantra
    2021 Toyota Tacoma

We're at about $180/month for full coverage and $85/month for Home Insurance.

To be honest, I have not shopped for comparison. The monthly payment fits into the budget...which got better when I dropped Cable and kept Internet and bought our own Wifi/Modem.

I've never had any issue with the claim process and USAA. They have been great. The difference in cost was my biggest issue.

I am going to be looking at USAA once more and see if I want to make some changes myself.

I know this is an old (er) (like me) thread but I finally retired USAA ... I tried to buy truck tires from Wally world and USAA just shut off my card.... again but for the last time...... NO TEXT NO EMAIL... card just stopped working. Which is great when you are traveling, cell service is hit or miss and you REALLY REALLY need gas.... I had more than sufficient funds btw.... in fact I recently paid off my mortgage and truck... (woot woot!)

I do have some travel expenses that need to get paid out to me but the new bank *(credit union) is all set with bill pay, debit/credit card, savings/checking etc...
now when i call the new credit union I actually speak with someone and do not go through 10 mins of automated AI conversations AND i can actually go to a bank with real live people. Not that I minded just calling USAA but now days you never get through quickly it's usually 20 mins+

when there are no B&M's you have to make the phone lines more efficient USAA (duh). Sorry USAA you did this to yourself.

I gave them sooooo many chances. I was evidently a member for 34 years they said today and also swore they would fix the stuff they said they were going to fix sooo many ither times. I said don't bother ma'am, you've been very nice but USAA has already wasted so much of my time, please have a great day.

Nothing yet. Just bought a new truck.
USAA is a clown show. I had a head on accident at Miramar air station. I called them to have them fix my truck and they told me to pay a 500 deduc even though that other driver was at fault and was a USAA member. I canceled them and added progressive and never looked back. USAA was a constant runaround for anything. When I was PFC they were super cheap now I'm retired and they wanted double what progressive wanted.

My cousin just retired from USAA after 25 years there, you don't want to hear what he thinks of their transformation that's been going on for the last 5 years. It's not kind. NFCU is kind of the same IMO, they used to be a great CU, now they're no better than the rest. Both companies had big pushes in recent years to sign as many members as they can, coincidence?

Unfortunate really. I guess the old adage is true …the only constant is change..

I quit using my USSA Credit Card, it is constantly being shut down. If I try buying gas at the Buckee’s in Terrell Texas, they instantly deny use. I also seem to be plagued with fraudulent credit card charges. I’ve started using a different Credit card, because of that.

I'm guessing there is a "lack of training and accountability" for those who don't know the process.

The deductible is not taken from your account...it's part of the transactions associated with the claim.

Unless that has changed since 2018 when I had my accident...which USAA said I was partly to blame based on the police report.

Now, I know that other drivers are not given authority as Law Enforcement when they give me the right of way.

I was immediately authorized a rental...another lesson learned, don't get a larger vehicle than you are authorized for a week.

My 2003 Honda Pilot was considered a total loss but the value would have been lower had I NOT had the extras on it:

Bull Bars, tow hitch, side steps, cross bars for the roof rack (not sure why they didn't come with an EX model) and all the amenities.

Within a month, I found a replacement vehicle and used my payout + cash to buy 2010 Mazda CX-9 for $10K.

I had that Mazda until 2021 when we did out mortgage refinance AND then I bought my Sport.

I posted this photo before...and neither the other driver or myself had any serious injuries...she tried to claim but never showed up in court.
