Reading this post immediately brought back memories of The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. Even if you turn your life around and give and give and give, you'll end up giving everything and end up with nothing but the stump. Just like with life, it's an equilibrium of both giving and taking. Staying true to your morals, if you give more than you take, you'll still be in the positive. Take criticisms, give criticisms, give assistance, take the help for example. Another lighter example of this would be the movie Yes Man with Jim Carrey.

Of course, you're only given about 5 to 15 minutes to make a good first impression. It's pretty easy to pick up on the type of character you're interacting with in the beginning. Some people are pretty good at hiding that behind a veil of deceit, and it's those people that you truly need to watch out for.

@hiPSI I agree with your take on being a Giver instead of a Taker. I guess I might have misunderstood your initial question.

What I do, is mostly just chill the f out. I realized in college that, outside of family, nothing really matters. Not politics, not the guy that cut me off in traffic, nothing. It won't matter in 4 hours and it's not going to matter in 40 years. What will matter is how much stress I put on myself for things that don't matter. You need help? You got it. You need to cut me off in traffic so you get to where you're going 2 seconds quicker? You got it. You need to cuss me out because I did something that you didn't like? You got it.

It just doesn't matter to me anymore. And not in a "I don't give a fvck" kind of way, because I'm not that flippant. I just feel like smiling at everyone and having a good laugh at how ridiculous they are being in that situation when it won't really matter in 30 minutes.

Stayed home sick today. Sinuses are draining which is irritating my throat which is making me cough which is giving me a headache and no one wants to hear me coughing all day.

I do have AutoCAD installed so I can keep plugging away on the floor plan update so the day isn't a complete waste. Although I do feel like a nap is coming on.

Bonus, I get to play with the dogs here and there, too.

Standing around roadside waiting for our ride back to Escazu. Had to schlep all of our stuff about ⅜ of a mile to the pickup point in the 95F sun. Good for detoxing!

@Fargo Taco & @FastEddy59 hope you both feel better soon.

I'm doing a lot better, snot removal is still happening a little bit and I was able to stick my nose close to a pot Saturday evening and get a hint of gravy, it was very faint though.
