Got a new dial indicator for my surface grinder.

 

Is that half inch? Cause if it's 0-0.05" that's only fifty thousandths, but it goes to .100".....misprint?

 

Tenths indicator. Full range of stroke is 5 times around the dial. To 50 thou

 

Gotcha, one of those moments for me. I see the .0001" now, lol.

I struggle with it to. Chasing a thou is no problem for me. But now chasing tenths is a whole new world.

I consulted a grinding expert about my struggles with grinding hardened stainless at 63 HRC and the first thing he said was throw that 0.001” indicator in the trash and get a 0.0001” indicator.

 

I think I have the same indicator on my surface plate.

 

Driving up the coast thru many miles of palm tree plantations, saw a sign that said 76,000 hectares, which is 187,000 acres.
