I also got the rear and front camera from them but wont have time to install for a bit. Curious on your placement in the front as the instructions look to show mounting it more like a dash cam and I was looking for something out the front grille to see where I can't when parking and on trails.

Yeah that's why I got the rear camera for the front. The cable is way longer and it's for sure waterproof. Not exactly sure where I'm going to place it yet, I'd rather not have to Dremel anything like I've seen you have to do for other cameras.

I simply used double sided tape, it does stick out a bit but not bad.
It’s been on for about a week through some seriously rainy conditions. ‘Probably will need to figure out a more permanent mounting solution.
    ‘The DVR feature is great.

So just finished installing the camera in the front. I ended up putting it in pretty much the same spot as comatose1978 with double sided tape. I'll have to design and 3d print a different mount since it doesn't seem very secure as is, and I also want to tilt it down a bit.

I set up the navigation face button to open the AR app. Works pretty good and isn't really noticable!

Please share the outcome of your printed mount once complete.

I'm getting that puppy, my birthday is coming up. So I need to do another rear camera from Joying for the front, and use the existing camera in the tailgate from Toyota, right?

Yeah that's how I currently have it. It looks like Comatose has their front camera in the front (or a different cam, looks different from Joying's website). I'm still trying to figure out the mount and where I want to finalize the location. I've seen a couple people put a camera right in front of the TSS sensor with no issues, so I may give that a shot.

Why don't people place it above the YO in the grill?

I tried a few different spots, but I don't remember why I didn't like it there. I'll try again tomorrow. My idea is to shorten the mount it came with a little bit and attach it to the inside of one of the grill pieces from the back. I'll try to take pics so it makes more sense.

So I ended up figuring something out that uses all the original hardware. The camera is just too big to put in most of the areas I wanted without having it protrude a bunch. I attached it the garnish for the TSS sensor (sorry this is picture heavy):

I turned the mount on the back of the camera upside down, and bent the little arms with some pliers in the config below.
    20240319_211454.jpg

Next I drilled two small holes on top of the garnish to start the screws that came with the camera. You can bend those ears to your desired angle for the camera tilt.
    20240319_213027.jpg 20240319_213438.jpg 20240319_213016.jpg

I didn't have to do any drilling for the camera wire. I just routed it out of the way of the sensor and made sure to use the lock washer or whatever that thing is called for the garnish since the wire will want to push it out of place.
    20240319_215040.jpg

It ended up looking pretty good I'd say. If I did it again, I would probably tilt it even more. You can see how close I put the impact and the light in front of the truck and how much of them I could see on the screen.

That looks great! Nice work! I think that is better than any other spot available, the heritage grill TOYOTA letters also seem to shield the camera a bit. Thanks for sharing this. I plan to do a YouTube vid on my install if I can talk the wife into it.

Let me know if you see any negative impacts to the sensor response...

I see what you mean. Yeah, I will likely bend mine to look a bit further down. I'm glad you explained why you had your drill and light on the floor in the previous picture. That does help with gauging how close to the front you can see.

Hey @Afallon the truck in your pictures looks quite different than the truck picture on your profile image. What are you driving now?

Yeah I need to update my profile pic. That was my 2016 blazing blue pearl SR5 that was totaled in 2020. I'm driving a 2019 cement Sport now, and have had it about a month.

Thanks! I'm glad you were able to keep yours. Pretty minimal damage considering rear enders usually end a Taco's life.

Yeah, only around $7,700 damage so far. I had the guy fix a couple of other minor issues that were bugging me from before I owned it. I am hoping to get my truck back sometime this weekend, but no promises.

so i recently bought the trailgridpro anytime front/rear camera mod without really thinking that I have this joying headunit instead of factory. the wiring harness for the mod kit obviously expect the factory headunit.

can anyone here confirm that it will still work with the joying unit?

    https://trailgridpro.com/products/anytime-backup-new-front-camera-kit-14-19-tacoma

edit: to anyone reading this I am stupid and this is addressed in this thread already a few times. yes, it worked just fine
