Its just the most fragile part to watch out for and for some aftermarkets it is reinstalled with the new one. I'm sure you will do fine. Give us an update once you get a new one.

Update…As many suggested, I ordered a new head unit (Boss BE920WCPA) from Crutchfield, utilizing their Ready Harness wiring service (very smart move for me due to my limited experience)! Everything seems to be working fine. My only disappointment was a misunderstanding on my part that I would have to use the new unit’s external mic, instead of the OEM built-in mic. I mounted it on the steering column and ran wire through dash…so not a great eyesore, but still…was not anticipating this and sound quality for the call recipient is not as good as before. Also, didn’t realize an additional adapter was needed to be able to utilize the phone steering wheel controls (radio steering wheel controls work fine)…but not a big deal to me. All things considered, I’m satisfied with the result. Thanks again for everyone’s input!
