Rear Seat Delete/Storage

I’ve embarked on an endeavor yet again. I have decided to remove 1/3 of my rear seats and build a storage/platform box. I’m close to being finished. Here is the progress so far.
It’s been WAY more work than I anticipated, but it’ll be well worth it when I’m finished.

 

Forgot to add. A molle panel will be installed on the front face. Latch cutout at the top to access the rear upright storage.

Thanks brother! I’m so close. Waiting on some more carpet, now. A few more boards to go and I’ll be ready to assemble. Do some electrical, figure out mounting and I’ll be good to go!

Excellent job! I'm looking to do something similar with tnutz except either making a platform for a fridge or incorporating a Dometic drawer style fridge rather than a drawer on one side with a lithium and supercap bank incorporated. In for updates, keep up the great work!

 

Makin some progress. Just about have it all assembled. A few more pieces of hardware to install. Get the backing and rear storage assembled. Get the electrical ran and compartment lights installed.

Fantastic from start to finish! A few questions;
Did you seal or waterproof the ply before carpeting?
What kind of extrusion did you use for the frame?
Does it limit movement of the driver's seat much? As in, could you still tilt it back far enough to catch 40 winks?

 

No waterproofing. Just sanded with 80 grit and used 3M Super 77 adhesive to adhere the carpet. Staples on the backside. I used 1010 series extrusion. 1”x1”. Yes. It will limit the driver’s seat movement. But something I’ll live with. It’s not terrible from the initial fitment I did.

it’s certainly uncharted territory as far as the projects I’ve done in the past. Bought a bunch of new tools, learned some new skills. It’s been a trip so far. I’ve been slowly chipping away at it the past month and a half.

 

Buying new tools is always the correct thing to do! Heck, nothing wrong with learning either.
