Joined team Taco about a year ago. Bought a 2015 access cab SR5...in spring 2023..had 30k miles...paid 26.7k but it's very clean..V6..I'm 60 years old, think it'll last me rest of my life? Only put about 6k miles per year..did I get a fair deal? Pretty clean, no dents, just some deep scratches near the tailgate.. curious what folks think.

Welcome to Tacoma World. As a comparison, I paid 25k for my ‘15 with 80k miles at the height of pandemic price gouging. You did very well getting one with 30k assuming the frame is clean. I don’t like doing math on a Friday but if you live to 80 years old at 6k mi/yr, you’d still be at 150k total miles and frankly that’s called “just broken in” for a Tacoma. Again welcome and enjoy!

Bought a '15 at the crest of crazy used car prices - always wanted a Tacoma for their sheer longevity and durability. You could say i settled for a 2wd being i didnt want the ranger issues all over again w/ transfer case, extra seals, extra axles and just more things to go wrong - dont get me wrong a 4x4 wdve been nice but i found a great prerunner 2trfe dcsb in my small town of all places, in great shape. Had a hair over 80k mi. $20k

Don't regret it one bit, and i dont miss the ranger

Yes, 4WD....frame and underside is near perfect (checked that out before hand)....I'm happy enough with the price...it's a fairly simple truck (for instance, no outside thermometer!)...nevertheless, it just works...got my first compliment on it the other day!

Welcome to TW and congrats on your truck!
When I bought my 07 in 2012 with 30K miles on it, my plan was that it would be the last one I buy for myself. Didn't drive it a whole heck of a lot until I retired 9 years ago. Since then the mileage, mainly highway miles, on it has doubled and now sits just under 115,000 on the clock. Truck runs and still looks pretty darn good IMO.

So yes, it can last you the rest of your life!

Welcome, lots of great info here to help keep your truck in tip top shape. I'm biased but you did buy the best looking gen(2.5) Tacoma there is.

If you really want 4x4 you can swap in a manual FJ transfercase and the front dif with an ADD tube delete. Because I would.

Score! Yes, sounds like a very good deal. I paid the same price for my 2015 Double Cab TRD OR... But it had 95k miles. I must've looked around for this particular truck for 6 months. hahaha

I bought my 2015 TRD Sport 4x4 6 cylinder for $19,816 with about 85,000 miles in December 2019. I was very lucky to find the truck when I did before prices went crazy and traveled several states to purchase it. The frame is in great condition and I religiously perform all the maintenance. I put very little mileage on my and have reached a little in excess of 120,000. I love the truck and hope, like you, it last forever. I retire in less than year and I’ll be leaving the people’ republic of Jersey and my wife and I will probably reside in Florida, which is good news for the frame, which I’ve treated with spray to counteract the corrosion, as they salt the roads around here like a pretzel. Enjoy!

So you going from one craphole to another, have you seen how much living in Florida costs NOW,super high home/renter ins. ,super high taxes, super high H.O.A fees, high car insurance. People are leaving Florida in droves, including my wife's best friend,as they could no longer afford the costs of living .

So I’ve heard. SC is our back plan. It’s unfortunate FL is getting costly.

I got a 2006 4.0 4wd with 227k and the trans fluid comes out clean with firm shifts. the diffs and transfer case are also pristine, the engine pulls like a draft horse and is smooth and quiet. . My neighbor sold me this a year and a half ago for $6500. I thought it was gonna be a junker to occasionally haul stuff. then I noticed the frame, leaves, and lower control arms had almost zero rust as well. The body was rust free. Now it's now undergoing transformation to be my sick-a$$ daily driver. I'll admit to being an autoworker for 31 years, building Ford 150's and Escapes. I'm only 54 so I still got a few years to go at the plant, but I'm going to start driving it there when its pimped out to my liking. Those who know any UAW workers will understand the ramification of this. I have officially become the number 1 taco fanboy. Every time I work on it, I remain impressed. Again, I know a little about auto assembly and quality. To get to the question, fix that thing up exactly how you like it, because if you take care of it, it will be your last vehicle.

Congratulations and welcome to Tacoma World.

My 2015 TRD Sport 2wd has just over 100K easy-driven miles on her, and she drives just as good as she did the day I drove her off the dealership lot back in November 2014.

I have read somewhere that the 2015 2nd Gen is the best year Tacoma ever.
