Transmission drain and fill.

    4.0 V6. My Tacoma has roughly 180k miles on it. I’m assuming the transmission has never been touched. I have no transmission issues currently. I was wondering if I should drain the transmission fluid and fill it with new fluid. I have seen this cause transmission issues on high mileage vehicles and was wondering if anyone thinks I should or should not change out the fluid. If I did do this job I would be doing it myself with a hand pump. Let me know what you guys think, thanks!!!

    ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, SOS rear bumper, SOS skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.
    A drain and fill should be fine, no flush.

    I have a Honda that received its first transmission fluid change at 235k, 5k later and no issues.

    Tacoma was done around 100k, I'm at 113k now with no issues

    You're going to get 50 different opinions on this. My opinion is to go ahead with a full fluid exchange. I drain the pan and add back the same amount of fresh fluid and then proceed to pump out 2 quarts of fluid at a time through the transmission fluid return line into a graduated bucket then add the same amount of new fluid back into the transmission. I do this several times until I've exchanged at least 10-12 quarts through the system. After that, I add about an extra half quart and then set the fluid level following the factory method. There are several write-ups with much more detail our there.

    I would do drain/refill, and also change ATF filter and clean out the pan to see what kind of crud is in there.
