Regeared to 4.88 and have been following the procedure for rear which is simple enough because that’s what drives the truck

    what about front?
I’ve heard the focus is not as intense on procedure there

but trying to figure out if I need 2 more quarts of gear oil to change that as well after 500mi

I imagine it may not be a bad idea
Each bottle was $8, and from what I hear the stock setup turns the front diff anyway (at least coasts it)
    4X hits the drive side

and non REM is said to have rough spots on the gear that initially shave off, which seems like the point of a 500mi drain to get all of that out of the diff and not have it circulating abrasive particles forever

as much as I’d like to just forget about it I don’t know if I’d be shooting myself in the foot by doing that

I know instructions state to avoid off roading. I wonder if flat sand counts. Because that would more safely allow 4X vs pavement. Without the shock load of actually wheeling on a dedicated 4x4 trail climbing up steep rocks.
Would be convenient if it was raining and snowing I guess, to be in 4X…

It's mostly the spider gears moving in the front when not in 4WD.
I'd still change it, just because it would make me feel better.
I'd also try to get some time in on it in 4WD. That way the ring and pinion get some "break-in".
