I’d call and make sure they can clone your sensors. I bought ours cloned, I know a guy in tire supply business. Discount Tire said oh we would have done that for you. We bought the tires there and had our own TRD wheels.

Most Discount Tire stores carry Autel TPMS sensors. The Autel TPMS sensor can be cloned to the sensors on your existing wheelset. What that means is, you have 4 wheels/Tires.(Some have 5) Each sensor has it’s own ID #. Let’s say FL=234 FR=869 RR=762 RL=334. If they clone those same numbers to the new Autel sensors and install them on your truck, the truck will read them the same. If you install/rotate your tires. You have (should have) a tiny little round button down by your hood release & OBDII port that will tell the TPMS system to relearn the position of the tires. I personally got fed up with Discount Tires and bought the Autel tool. If your interested in buying this tool let me know. It’s a $300 tool that a guy sold to me for $100 NIB. He has a tire tool supply company. I also use to use the Ateq tool for switching Summer to Winter Wheelsets. Worked great until Discount broke one of my sensors and replaced it with an aftermarket sensor without telling me. Than my Ateq quit working and….I was a little upset. But. Now with the Autel I can do everything TPMS related on almost every vehicle out there.

Depending on your year, The truck won’t know where the tires are when you rotate unless you push the little TPMS button down by your hood release and OBDII port. Little black round button. Should say TPMS. It will tell the computer where what tire is. I think you need to hold it down for 3seconds with the truck running than drive for 5-10 miles.

I am interested in the tool but, and I apologize for being dense here but, it sounds like I would only need one trip to Discount Tire for them to set up the new sensors, then I would never need to go back right? I would then have two sets of wheels/tires/sensors that I could swap whenever needed. And of course I would need to reset the TPMS on the truck each time. So assuming they do it right the first time, and assuming it doesn't cost too much, and since I have to go there anyway to get the tires installed on the wheels, it seems like that is the best option. If they are going to charge me an extra $100 or whatever, then I suppose its probably best to get the tool though just in case I need it again at some point.
I should call them and see what the charge is for that....

I use my Autel a lot with my other vehicle which only indicates a TPMS issue vs the Tacoma with independent tire pressure displayed. It is an expensive tire pressure guage that will provide you full sensor data, pressure, temperature, ID and battery state. You can also use the Autel tool when the tire pump is attached to the valve. It gives you the current tire pressure without disconnecting the air pump. The Autel provides more accurate tire pressure with one decimal place.
Last time I went to the dealer with the other car they wiped both sets of TPMS IDs from the computer when new winter tires were installed on the winter rims. They should have just switched to the other ID set stored. I did not know they wiped both IDs until I put the summers back on and had to relearn the summers. My Autel TS-508 gets plenty of use. I did have an old winter tire that was loosing one pound of pressure a week.
I believe that this meter can be purchased in a kit with many sensors for the same price for just sensors. They usually sell off the meter for profit.

A cloned set of TPMS sensors is great if you don't have a tool.

Call discount and tell them what you are trying to accomplish and see if they can get you set up. If so, That's the way to go.

@mattyshum there is no additional cost to set up the TPMS sensors over the normal cost of installation. You can always shoot us a DM here on the forum so we can get you taken care of.

Posted over in 3rd gen forums but I just got Method 703 wheels and I have the OEM steelies, can I reuse these TPMS sensors or do I need new ones? I heard you just have to flip them upside down? If that's true ill just have my shop do it, it's a small mom and pop shop so I'm sure theyll work with me on the TPMS thing. I also have a Discount Tire if their techs are willing to do this. Would hate to spend another $200 for new sensors plus re-programing fee.

    TY!

I use the Ridgid Inflator with the Autel TS508. Connect to valve shows pressure. Dial desired pressure and press trigger. It runs high speed until it get close then stops automatically.

Been digging in the thread for a while, a bit lost. I am looking to purchase a second set of wheels and keep another for winter wheels. It seems this is as easy as purchasing a second set of sensors and can be cloned by a tire shop now? Better to purchase the programmer and diy? What is a good replacement sensor for a second set of wheels on a 2022 OR? Thanks guys
