I am 57-1/2 years old and always been a "Jeep guy" my whole life. I was in the market for another used Jeep, but after months of searching for a replacement Jeep I started to realize that a pickup truck would be more practical. So I started my journey for looking at pickup trucks, wow are they even more expensive!!! I started with full size and then started looking at small and midsize. I started really zeroing on Ford Rangers (2011-2005) models with the extended cab. I even came very close to buying one until I inspected the frame and undercarriage! I live in the rust belt, so it is near impossible to find something affordable and with minimum rust.

So with a lot of praying and waiting on the Lord, finally, a 2009 Tacoma, with a 4-cylinder engine, manual transmission, one-time owner, 125,000 miles, and minimum rust was available! It was a little more than I would have liked to spend, but after looking at the current market, it was truly a gift from God. I bought it, made some easy modifications, and very grateful with purchase. So far it runs like a champ with no mechanical issues. So here I am, a first time Tacoma owner!

You'll be glad you left the jeep life and came to the yota life. Welcome. I've got the regular cab version of your truck.

Thanks. I looked for awhile and had to be patient, but I finally found what I wanted. 2014, 5spd, 4wd with only 68k miles on it when I got it.

Welcome amigo! I too am a recovering Jeep owner (1975.5 Cherokee Chief), now 66 years old. That was a long time ago. My first Tacoma was a 2001, then a 2005, and my current one is a 2010. All three being 4x4 TRD Off Road models. The quality and durability of the Toyota trucks over Jeep (or Ford) is such a joy! I 'prove' my 4x4s in the wilds of Baja California!
