I run an OEM tailgate harness to my tailgate handle and also through a TAG fuse box to my shell pop-n-lock. It shows zero signs of trouble, other than the molex terminals are super not awesome and one of the lock/unlock pins got pushed through one side of the connector (fuse box side) and I had to take it all apart to get it all re-seated. So, once getting the deutsch flange in place, my plan is to never disconnect the molex side again, when taking the topper off I'll just leave the deutsch connector hanging and cap the flange.

I also direct tapped my '02 Tundra lock/unlock via T harness in the passenger kick panel and no trouble with that either. The OEM lock/unlock wires are pretty beefy and the aftermarket harnesses are at least 18, I think more likely 16 gauge as well. It's just a pulse of +12v / -12v, not some big spend on current like a defroster.

I'm game to offer PnP if there is a connector on the RSI side that I can get a hold of, but when routing wire into the bed you may want to drill and do a flange depending on the situation. The 6 way flange feels just right, lock, unlock, ground, brake, dome and one left for 12v charging / 2nd dome / bed rail / etc.

Also worth mentioning, my pop-n-lock on the leer is a joke, you can open it with minimal force even when locked, the guys at the transfer station did that a few times. I'm not sure I can crank down on the bolt/nut more without breaking the rear glass but it's all a pure illusion of security. If I could spend a few hundred to get something better lock-wise, I'd be tempted, but I think the design fail is all Leer, not Pop-n-lock, so I'm screwed b/c I like the looks of the 100xq and it's color matched. So I mostly just try to avoid leaving anything of value in there. Point being, the only thing worse than $700 on locks is $100 on a lock which doesn't actually do much locking :)

I plan on using an Anderson plug to transition from the bed to outside the bed, like I did for the brake light. I'll replace the current single port Anderson plug with a dual port.

I get all my DC stuff from Powerwerx

Edit: the ground isn't hooked up for that Amp meter... hence the 0's.

I didn’t at 1st but the last attempt I did, then failed and said fuck it. I’ll keep an eye on your posts when product arrives unless he pops up before that.

I’d assume the locks would function as normal with a key if needed and obviously remotely (maybe more force on the key to turn the solenoid). These auto locks probably only work with the old style locks since rsi redesigned it completely.

I love the flush sockets. I have a blue sea surface mount I haven’t installed yet. Might look that one up though, I have an ARB socket that does direct connect to the fridge. But have yet to run power to the back so all useless for now.

    No dome on the RSI?

The Anderson connector looks like a good whack with a cinder block would do some damage but hard to tell. The Deutsch plastic feels like it might survive an impact with something heavy. But of course always can be replaced / repaired.

The Hammer Safe locks don't lock or unlock the latch. They just hold the latch down, so it can't "pop" up. Like an old school safety chain on a hotel room door.

Yeah, the Anderson might not be the most robust for real truck use, but I'm a pretty gentle dude, so I've had no issue.

I have (4) KC cyclones installed for domes. That's what is plugged into that cigarette port. I have them installed with magnet bases, so I can pull them out for camp lighting. I have a few revisions to make to them, but generally I really like the function.

Really, damn. I thought it was auto lock/unlock. I don’t see a huge need then for that personally. Maybe if I kept high value items at all times or lived in bad part of town or something

thanks for bringing that up before I dropped the cash

Well, it functions as a "lock". Instead of using the latch lock, just leave it unlocked and use the Hammer Safe to secure it... but I get it, it's not quite what people think it is.

Sorry everyone I had a HUGE install this week that has kept me off TW. Multiple late nights/early mornings. Our initial stock order left AU Monday I expect another week of customs and domestic shipping. We will post more pics as soon as we get them. We loaded them on the site to be ready when they land, otherwise I would have announced them here.

We negotiated for months to get setup as the US Distributor and have yet to put our hands on them. We know a shop in Sydney that has been installing them for the last year with success however the kit is very DIY. This is not a vehicle specific kit. There is enough wiring to connect them all together and taping into the vehicle harness will fall on the end user.

Aussies are all about central locking and the factory wiring at the passenger door has been able to handle the additional 6 actuators on a handful of models that have been tested.

Sorry I don't have more details yet, however we want this to be a reliable, useful solution for central locking for canopies. As always we will stand behind anything we sell or install.

Thanks Bert for being a BETA tester

fair enough. I sort of figured. Ok; I dug a bit for a photo. As you can see the awning has a 90 degree heavy duty bracket. It mounts first to the back of the awning. Then it sets on top of the rails of the smart cap.

prior to putting the brackets on the rail, you drop in and slide a couple of M8 bolts. Or as many as you want and need for your setup.

No I haven’t. I have the smittybilt gen 2 xl tent and was looking at the smittybily 270 as a matching set.

    Hey Everyone,

My 6 footer RSI Sport arrived today (Thank you Mike's Custom Toys!). Unfortunately, I will not get a chance to assemble it until the weekend.

For those that have already gone down this path...do you have any "lessons learned" for the newbie? I am fairly handy, and will be going strictly by the book (e.g. torque settings, etc.).

    Thank you.

For now it sits in the driveway:

When tent is upside down and you are torquing everything, walk around the cap torquing and don’t stop torquing till they quit turning. I did about 5 rounds before the nuts stopped turning. The foam gasket relaxes and then the torque isn’t tight anymore. Other then that just follow the directions.
