Hello, just wondering if there is a "correct" position for how far the slip-yolk should be into the transmission on a 2WD Prerunner. I had the 2 piece shaft replaced with a single and it looks a little short, here is a photo of before (seemed to sit further in) vs. after swapping:

Should I get a 3/4" spacer to over-compensate? I can't find a smaller driveshaft spacer than that so I am not sure if it would be better for it to be a little too far in vs too far out.

After swap: the dust guards both sit about flush with each other

Before the swap: (appears to be about 1/4" further in than after the 1 piece install)

    Thanks!

I’d say you’re within a small tolerance and shouldn’t have anything to worry about. I’d be interested to see the true measurement of both the stock drive shaft compared to the new single shaft. The OEM shaft could be slightly longer to compensate any movement with the carrier bearing holding it while moving back and forth with bumps. What single piece unit did you go with?

I had a custom one made at a driveshaft shop because there are no one piece shafts offered for double cab prerunner due to the length needed
