Thoughts on if I if this is a fair buy and what I should look for.

2008 tacoma 4x4 v6 access cab from BC canada. Well maintained 2 owners has a clean title 336000km and they are asking $15000. the frame 2 years ago had a spray done for a rust recall. I am looking to buy it any advice as far as what I should look out for and is that a good year for tacoma?

 

No, I wouldn't pay that for a trick with that mileage.
My truck has 170,000 miles miles on it (270,000km).
My truck is an 07'. I value it at $10k on a good day.
Now way I'm paying $5k more for 1 year new and MORE miles.

That price is a little high. But here in B.C used Tacomas keep the highest value of any. It is from the dry belt of B.C rust won't be an issue. Try to get it down a little in price.

 

You probably don't live in Canada, everything here is more. I work at GM dealership, whenever we get in a used Taco it is sold same day, especially clean 2nd gens. We sold a 2009 ACLB with 310, 000 kms for $19k Friday, 3 customers were fighting over it.
A 2024 Colorado z71 sells for $59k here. Same with the 2024 Taco Sport.

 

I don't live in Canada.
But I might need to make a trip up there if I sell my truck.

 

You realize a Canadian buck is about 70 cents US.

 

Where is this truck? Don't be fooled by the spray coating on the frame it could be hiding something under it. Still best to test the frame with a hammer. If the truck is in the Squamish Whistler area I wouldn't touch it. JMO

What I've seen in Canada is if the frame was rotten enough to replace out west, it wasn't taken very good care of.

Most 2nd gens in western canada passed the inspection. The ones I failed were usually big POS's.

fun fact there’s some sprays out there that simply cover and hide rust to be misleading, just like if one were to find a dog poop outside and spray black plastidip

 

Yep, here in the dry and hot Okanogan Valley south b.c , the only rust I see is from neglect. My 2009 Frame is solid, lived its entire life in South Okanagan b.c.
