I’m assuming the OP is referring to the bucking/surging/torque-oscillation that happens to all cars (at least in my experience) with a manual transmission when you give them too much throttle in a low gear (usually 2nd) with low rpm. It doesn’t matter if the engine is warm or cold, but it might be more pronounced when cold.

If you want to feel it, put it in 2nd at low rpm and step hard on the gas.

Agree. And to be clear, nothing wrong with the truck, it's more driver error than anything else. It's happened a few times to me when not paying attention, and letting off the gas and going back on slow corrects it.

It happened to me a couple times the first week I owned the truck. I hadn’t drive a manual in 4 years.

Doesn't happen with mine. My educated guess is I don't experience many below freezing mornings where I live. Cold fluid causing a disconnect and or delay between what your left foot wants the pressure plate to do versus what it's actually doing. This results in less than smooth clutch engagement in the lower gears where the shorter ratios reveal anything less than perfect.

No money, all went to truck...
under certain conditions I can get pretty good bucking in 2nd gear. Usually when I lug, going up hill too slow, or over a speed bump. I take it as driver error. I could lug my 2nd gen but 3rd does not like it at all.

I got curious about this behavior, so I tried to make it happen on my drive today. It wouldn’t do it in 1st or 2nd. Wtf? It did feel like the ECU was cutting my throttle input though. I was stomping it hard enough to spin the tires and all that happened was moderate acceleration.

I tried once with traction control off as well. No difference.

I’ll give it a try when I have more time and the engine is cold and see if it makes any difference.

I understand exactly what OP is talking about. I will admit it happens more when I short shift and it's cold and when I say cold I mean below zero. When its that cold it happens no matter what. It feels like the solenoid are just working slow until 2 miles down the road and then never notice it again.

What solenoid are you referring to?

Oh I don't know I'm just saying what it feels like. It feels like a solenoid that is working slow. I can even feel it in gear cruising at one steady speed for like one minute then it runs smooth after that. Did it this morning it was 17 degrees. At around 32 I won't notice it at all
