Ok, I'm an idiot! When I lifted my truck years ago, I sold the original struts. I currently have Bilsteins with OME coils and that gives me 1.5 inches of lift. I also have 4 inches with Maxtrac spindles for a total of 5.5. Now that I want to go back to 265/70r17 (currently 285/70r17) to regain some ride quality and acceleration (daily drive) I need to return my struts to their stock height to decrease the fender gap. But I don't know what my options are since I don't have the original coil springs and new ones are very expensive! Anyone with any suggestions?

Are the springs set on the lowest shock clip setting? That should be 0 lift IIRC.

If not, that should take you down to just the spindle lift.

Beyond that, putting stock spindles back on seems to be about it. Someone else with a prerunner might be interested in a swap

Yes they are set to minimum, but I have OME 883 coils. I want to leave the 4 inch spindles only. That way I could go back to a better tire size without the truck looking too stupid.

Seems like all you need is a set of OE springs or the OE equivalent in another product.

IMO somewhere around 2-3" of lift with factory tires is about where I'd want it. Leave the Bilstein's on it. The 285's are only about 1" taller than 265's and the 265/70's are about 1" taller than stock. To go back you'd spend more money than it's worth IMO.

My problem is not the height, it's the performance of the truck. 285s makes it sluggish. Driving this truck on the highways is almost suicidal. When it had the 265 tires it was much faster. I need to remove the inch and a half of springs, but I no longer have the original coil springs.

Shop the classifieds for some 3rd gen low mile take offs.
