Bedrug or rubber bed mat for dog (with Camper shell)

Anyone have experiences with a bedrug and a dog. At first I thought it was the perfect idea, the thinking more I thought it may be hard to keep the hair under control. I have a black lab.

So question is: rubber bed mat OR bedrug? Cost is $379 bedrug vs. $90 rubber bed mat. Again this will be with a cap.

Suggestions?

 

I can't help you with the bed rug, but I have a rubber bed mat and two black labs and it's really easy to clean....

 

Rubber mat. Shit is glue.nothing slides on it. Dogs nails might get snagged on carpet

So bed mat....? Anybody feel bed rug is a good choice? I like the look of bed rug more but....anybody have pics if the mat with a shell to pursued me?

 

If money is not an issue, a bed rug would look better and be more comfortable for any living creature.

But muddy paws and dog vomit/drool can ruin a carpet pretty quick.

Most definitely...rubber mat. Rug would be a pain to clean and wet dog smell would stay linger for a long time.

I haven't even cut the wheel wells out, it's fairly flexible and sits nice. Keeps everything (dogs included) from sliding around.

 

Hell yeah I think it's a good choice.

I got the Bedrug mat (which is just the floor portion for $149 .. you don't need the sides) & then the tailgate mat ($49 - makes it much safer for the dog jumping in). I got both pieces from AutoAnything.com.

They give you big velcro strips to lock the Bedrug mat down, but if you have a shell, you don't need it .. it won't bunch up or anything, and it's super easy to remove and clean.

My dog (border collie / cattle dog mix) loves it. He's up on his feet the entire ride, and has never had a problem. It provides tons of grip, and he's never caught a nail. Once you see the surface, you'll know that's not going to be a problem. It's perfect for dogs.

Plus it's very comfortable to lie down on as it conforms to the ridges in the bed .. which actually is why I bought it .. I have an access cab (6' bed) and my truck is my cabin. And the Bedrug mat is a great sleeping surface. I've had it in there for the past year, and it looks as good as new.

I highly recommend it for dogs.

 

Can't the bed rug just be hosed down? From what I understand, it's not carpet like your livingroom carpet. It's more like the outdoor stuff. If I was getting something specifically for the dog, I'd go the BedRug route.

 

I use both the BedRug and the Tacoma mat. I have a shell on as well. I have the mat down because muddy dogs leave a mess and the mat is simple to pull out and wash off. The BedRug is more of a chore. Secondly, that BedRug gets dog hair embedded and is a chore to vacuum out.

My golden retrievers are comfortable even in cold weather with the insulation the BedRug provides and I have a comfortable place to camp in when I travel for mountain biking.

 

I have to second this on Bed Rug
. Simple to throw on the driveway and, clean waterproof, looks new after four years. Many advantages over heavy rubber. I am getting another full out this time for my 2018 with a sorry expensive jbl stereo. Can't stand the stereo controls and features.

 

I had the standard bed rug on my 2014 trd with the tailgate piece. Excellent addition compared to rubber for my GSD working line.

 

Bed mat and then buy them a waterproof bed or whatever is soft. My GSP doesn’t have a problem.

 

What cab? If Dbl. cab my choice is a secured crate I back seat with blankets or dog bed. If not Dbl. cab I would still do the secured crate in bed even with a canopy.

 

I have the 6' bed w/camper and short hair GSD. Went with a rubber mat. Except I didn't like any of the retail options for the price. So I made mine out of horse stall mat (1" solid rubber) then simply put a dog bed in. Great grip, heavy AF but a smooth solid serface for dog & people. Also it did seem to dampen the hallow sound of the plastic bed too.

 

Bedrug. I like having a clean trunk like bed under my tonneau. I have two Corgis and they shed like no other. I use an air compressor and, occasionally, a lint roller to get the tough things out. This is my first bedrug, but I will have one on every pickup from here on out. I have it velcro'd so it comes out for messy hauling. And yes, I drive with the dogs in an open back for short rides to the park and lake. Just get both and stop stressing over the little things.
