This old girl just went through a lot of much needed work.

Timing belt, tensioner, water pump and thermostat ✔
Valve cover gaskets ✔
Intake gaskets ✔
Cam plugs and seals ✔
Spark plugs and wires ✔
Center support bearing ✔

She's at 405,000km and I'm jut trying to get her to last another 405. Here's hoping!

 

Been working on a custom OEM looking gauge pod that rests on the dash. Still a work in progress and final color will be grey or black. Thinking of also making a 2 pod version.

Funny enough, my tach is in miles. It's sitting at 252 right now!

 

Does anyone know if I have to buy the full power steering high pressure hose if I just need the return part of the hard line? It looks like it's included in the same part # diagram and can't be bought separately?

This is the part I'm talking about:
44410-04030

My high pressure hose is fine, but there's a kink in the other hard line that returns fluid back to the PS pump.

Any help is much appreciated.

Played hooky and got new shocks on all 4 corners. Went with KYB mononax, rockautos finest. For the rears used ones specd for a t100 bc of the extra height ive got from my bastard leaf pack. If you go for t100 rears get ready to get creative on install. It goes but was a fight. Shocking results! 3 out of 4 of the old shocks were totally busted.

Two from a chevy 3/4ton under the old main and full length second yota leaf. The pack is working great, but will be getting some more fine tuning. Likely replacing the full length yota leaf with a 1/2 ton chev, and tweaking the 3/4ton to soften it up a little. Near future will be new tires, after giving the cheepo american racing wheels a scuff n spray.

 

Well, at 302k miles my injectors had issues unbeknownst to me. Headgasket blew and decided why not have them cleaned. Truck ran just fine.

Got the Tacoma back from the repair shop today and brought home a 2015 4Runner to replace the 2011 Xterra my son wrecked earlier in the week. Needless to say my insurance company is not really loving me at the moment with 2 wreck claims in the month of March! Let's hope April is a better month.

 

Still putting things back together. Would be difficult to pinpoint if clean injectors made a difference with having a whole new head on. Who knows how long it's been running with small issues. Hoping to start it tomorrow.

 

Just bought this.

 

Trying to get my clutch back in tip top shape. Hoping that new bushings and master cylinder rod adjustment will get me there. Might end up needing a new spring and pedal due to the wear

 

An old mod many of us have done is to replace the torsion spring with a linear one. Do some searching here and you'll find what you need. It eliminates the bushings, so no squeaking and there's already a tab under the dash to hook to. Cheap and easy.

 

Gonna find that. Currently have the original (317k) spring in there and its loaded up w dry lube bc the squeak was driving me crazy.
