I have a 3.4 that doesn’t fully spin when you turn the crankshaft. I believe that the valves are bent. I have most of the engine taken apart and am going to open the head tomorrow to look at them. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this issue? I’m not looking to swap the whole engine mostly just buy a new head. I was wondering if I’m able to take a hammer to it as crazy as that sounds.

Not too much of a backstory, I bought the car couple years ago and it was rebuilt at 170,000. It’s currently almost at 300,000. but it had a valve cover leak and I believe that May have something to do with it due to me not topping up the oil every so often.

3.4 is not interference so it may be a bottom end issue.

If you think its bent valves, start with removing the valve covers and see if any valves stay open while rotating engine back and forth.

You could probably pop a could new valves in if they're bent. A cylinder leak down will help tell you which valves if any are bent and which cylinders.
