I was thinking about buying the Scangauge 2 for a few of it's features. Transmission temp would be great too, but I don't know if it's readable for the 2.7l. (Lots of info on the 3.5l).

Has anyone successfully used it to get transmission temps? Which code did you use?

Based on the above website, here's the code for the 3.5. Is it the same for the 2.7?

    I bet it's the same.

It does take some effort to program pid, but it's can be done.

I agree, it likely will be okay, but hate assuming, so would be great to hear from someone who has installed it and successfully reading the transmission temp.

Going by memory, I programmed the trans temps for my 08 Tundra, I think had to use PIDs for an 05 tundra.

Fortunately, all the PIDs use the same long number. The last 4 digits are the only thing that's different.

I decided to try it, and for anyone searching in the future, it works. The 3.5l specific codes didn't work, but the normal one did. See highlighted one below. It's a 2017 4cy Auto. This will make transmission fluid changes simple and accurate. (I realize you can jump 2 pins, and follow a sequence shifting between N & D, which isn't difficult, but the gauge has other info, a code reader, and I can use it on other vehicles. It's a nice tool to have on its own, the easy fluid change is a bonus.)
