I think I loosened the bolts for the support to give a bit of wiggle room but didn't drop it.

Todaywastheday I installed a single sided spiker engineering hood strut kit.

Once upon a time I willingly installed a Bullet Proof Fabricating cooling panel that sits above the radiator to direct more airflow through the rad instead of over. It looks sweet but the bummer was the hood prop had to go.

I figured it would be cool to leave the hood prop in the back seat for whenever I needed it but it turns out the reality is it was a pain in the ass fishing it out whenever I needed the hood open. Fast and the Furious fail.

Single strut on the passenger side because I have too much battery and intercooler related stuff crammed into the drivers side of the hood to mount another strut there.

    Life is better now.

I thought I took a pic but it's a stupid hood prop so who really cares Hahaha.

    Good job mang!

Glad you achieved success, it'll be worth it. Still got other projects to do before she's roadworthy?

… and yes, got a pretty big check list. But the mounts were a big one holding me up.

now that their in (thank you), I was able to put in the new Starter and Alternator.. next wrench session will be the Headers.

from there it’s AC conditioning, radiator, grill assembly

once finished with that.. can move on to installing/replacing all the DMZ/Total Chaos Long Travel stuff up front (got 8 years on the old, it was time)

then, then I can Ramble again

Sooooooo, TodayWasTHeDay (*rimshot and crowd applause or boos) that I restored my headlights, which suddenly turned foggy and shitty looking over the prior year. Nice day out and a break in the frequent rain for a couple days meant I could belt this job out. Used the Cerekote headlight restore kit that was recommended by a couple people on this forum and pretty happy with the results.

Of course while I was halfway through the job clouds started building and I got rather nervous but luckily the weather cleared up.

That's a hell of a difference in clarity!

What's that small port for that's on the bezel of your driver side fog light?

Yeah, I was pretty impressed with the results. Hopefully it holds up for a while.

Sharp eye on the port by the fog light. It's for the block heater extension cord for those extra cold Canadian winter days. Instead of the usual hanging cord with plug on most older vehicles the truck came with a nice short plug in cord that you plug into an extension cord.

That's awesome! Was it a factory toyota option or aftermarket?

It would be hilarious if you could pull into a EV charging stall and use the charger to power up your block heater....while getting shopping done at Walmart, etc.

I think it was factory but I don't know for sure as I wasn't the original owner. It looks factory.

The plugs would be different and it sounds like EV's everywhere seem to have enough waiting to charge issues that they don't need me raining on their parade hahaha.

If you're driving around every couple hours the truck starts fine even on cold days. I only use the block heater on super cold days where the truck sits overnight or for a long period and can struggle to fire up.
