    Hey Everyone,

I just got my first Tacoma, and I love it!

I would, however, like to change out the stock headlights on my SR5. I am often in areas without any street lighting, and could use a bit of a boost here! My question is, what halogen replacement bulbs would someone recommend? (ideally without having to change the whole harness). Maybe I can just plug in the TRD OR bulbs? I don't want LEDs to be blinding other drivers, but that's all I can find on YouTube.

Ideally, I'd be able to do the same thing with my brake lights as well.

    Thanks and let me know!

Yes they are plug and play, they may have to be adjusted if you are up to that. I would leave the brake lights alone I don't think there is a replacement bulb that's brighter.

Welcome to TW! I use Sylvania Silverstar ZXE’s on my truck. They are a bit pricey but they have great light output, they’re white, bright and have a nice cutoff.

I have 90 watt off road bulbs they are serious bright but in Maine there is a lot of off road even though they are paved including my nearly 1/2 mile drive way! The other big issue is deer and moose!

So I'm from Portland. I'll drive up to camp often which is where the lights most often come into play (on that long dirt drive.) Looking for the mix of that with my daily city driving. It seems like the Orsam or Phillps H9 are gonna be the way to go for me. Good price for the output. If I need to upgrade at some point, so be it.

    Thanks everyone, seriously.

also, very glad to see another Mainer is first correspondence. Fucking love that.

I'm near Fryeburg In Brownfield. Worked in Portland for 15 years 100 miles a day at 6AM in any weather and often in the middle of the night (electronics manager at the Cumberland county jail that's where my office was!)

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
There is one thing to note on the H9s: if you look at the plug on these H11s vs the H9s, you'll notice the H9 has two tabs and the H11 has one. Simple fix by using a razor knife to cut the other tab off. Compare the pics in this listing of H11s: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Phillips...lb-H11-Headlight-Bulb/1672745259?from=/search

So I'm comparing the link you sent with these H9s, here: https://www.walmart.com/ip/H9-Osram...ack-of-2/148806873?selectedSellerId=100001621

I'm not able to identify the tabs you're referring to. It seems like both have two tabs on them from what I can tell?

Gotcha! I was not looking at the plug itself, thank you.
