My Sport was black, seemed to mellow out the painted fenders. Always preferred the OR style.

that black pops against the red.

Why didnt you take the 2 seconds to option them the same? You're comparing a manual access cab sport to an auto access cab OR. Like I said, when optioned the same they're the same price.

Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
FWIW: The 4x4 and various electronics on-board my truck (stability control, traction control and whatever else is in there, especially the Auto-LSD, have got me through every encounter with mud, snow, muck/mud puddles and even black ice) to the stream fly-fishing holes and bird cover, and 4-L has always done the crawl-control for the few rare down-hill decents, which one time occurred on a steep rain and leaves covered section on a Jeep trail where the brakes were almost useless, and I should never have been on. If I come to a section where there is ledge and/or rock that would seem to indicate a skid-plate would be wise/necessary, I back up and park some place considerate and walk the rest of to the fly-fishing holes, or bird-cover. (or turn around)

In addition, even on trails I know, I also always engage 4L (a few times) before I start out from the main road, to confirm it will engage if I need it six miles ahead, and isn't in a bad mood/having a bad day.

You have to go further in to configure them the same, that is a starting price so the base Sport is 2 wheel drive and the Off Road is 4x4.

That’s quite the advice to give when you didn’t spend two seconds checking your own “research”.

The sport used to come with a limited slip differential, probably kept it because it sells. What I don’t get is why 2WD 6 lug Tacomas exist

Because a whole lot of the country doesn’t need 4WD to haul the kids to school, grab stuff from the hardware store or tow a small trailer.

    5 lug is the answer, a 6lug 2wd doesn’t make sense

Why produce two entirely different suspension and brake component sets instead of using 75% common parts for both 2wd and 4wd? Efficiency is money.

Exactly. A lot of “options” became standard equipment for that reason. Better deal on larger volume purchases and efficiency in the assembly process.

I initially wanted the off road for the locker. But a Sport came along that had Advance tech with 360 cameras and LED headlights. Every Off-road with with comparable features came in either peel-prone Super White paint or had a sunroof. I will not buy a car with the extra holes in the roof. Or paint that looks like crap in 3 years in GA sun.

In 2+ years of owning the truck I have never had a need for a locker, and I use it on the farm just about every day. 4Lo was enough to get me back to the house even after heavy rains and heavy GA clay.
But I use 360 cameras every time I drive in the orchard between the blueberry bushes or back up truck full of soil and mulch between the raised beds or drive in back pasture, avoiding the stumps and armadillo holes.

Maybe some owners didn't want to spend the money for a pro and got the sport and beefed it up. That's my theory anyway.
With that said the fake scoops are cringe....
