yea I know several friends of mine's taco comes with black letter badging.

 

OP, you either have OEM solid badging or black overlays, which Toyota also makes, but there are aftermarket overlays too. If they are overlays you can see a small gap between the edge of the overlay and the body. If the are solid, then you can remove them and put chrome ones on or put black overlays on the 2 front "TACOMA" badges. You can also remove them all. If it were me I would hold the business accountable for matching the emblems to the front. Any other way, they would probably make you pay for it. I think black emblems on MGM looks nice. Just my 2 cents...

 

I interpreted it as being an option to have any badges at all. Black does come from the factory recently on the Trail Edition or you can order it as an add on. If I misinterpreted that then I apologize

Go look at your window sticker. Tailgate lettering is not a factory feature, it's an option.

It's the T7. Tailgate Emblem. Listed under optional Equipment.

Does not come on all trucks as i said. it's an option.

 

Yeah I thought you meant any emblems at all not just black ones. The Trail Edition does come from the factory with black emblems

yeah i felt bad once he commented his age on a different thread .Hes in his 70's.But if your in 30s,40s and 50s your in my crosshairs

 

im going to look at my paperwork when i get home it should say on the invoice , but im going with overlay over the chrome and call it a day

 

did you do it or did you have some else do it? it does look sleek/slick

 

Easy to do.
Heat up the badge with a hair dryer, then use fishing line to separate it from the body. (or floss)
I was able to remove most of the remaining adhesive by rolling my thumb over it. I used goo-gone to remove the rest.
Clean the area then apply some wax.
I did the tailgate too.

 

When it got stolen was the tailgate locked?

 

i always kept it locked , but the cop i reported it said it doesnt matter because they can still get to it

The only option on my truck is the snugtop shell, the 4x4 chrome logo on the tailgate came from the factory.
