I did get it started but a real bear. 2005, 2.7 liter 5 speed.
2 Months ago my wonderful and silky smooth Idle, about 750 RPM, took a dive, 400 RPM and less, stalling , engine shook, hardly driveable. Both New O2 sensors did nothing. Read up on the problem , and decided to try the ... Clean the "Throttle Body" gunk build up solution. The engine Never threw a code......
Yea, the Inside of the TBI was terrible dirty, 250,000 miles will do that. A friend suggested to NOT take it off the manifold, so I devised a plan to jam part of an old shirt down it to catch the remains of the 2 spray cans I was using. When done, I pulled out the shirt, very wet, put it all back together and , tried to start. It would not. After 1 minute of trying, I knew something was wrong.
Today I tried again, and same No Start. I pulled everything apart I did the day before, and double checked to see if I got everything out of the manifold, again with an old shirt, on a safety wire. WHOAH did I find I had drowned the manifold with that spray.!!!!! So I got a second-third shirt, and jammed it multiple times into the manifold till it finally came up dry. I then removed spark plugs to clean them, and all parts back together.
This time the start was really rough but did get going revved very high hitting all 4 cylinders. When it reached temperature, the IDLE came down to a smooth 750 just like normal. I FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT !!!!
Next time Ill pull the TBI off the manifold. Thanks to the list for telling me to clean the TBI to bring back my original idle. Im a happy Tacoma driver again.

Shucks, my video would not load. Old cut shirt with a safety wire attached so I wouldn't loose it in the manifold

I pull TB off manifold on any serious clean, its a good habit and a good story as to why.

The gasket is robust and can be reused no issue, so theres little reason not to.
