My rear driveshaft broke at the U-joint, transmission side. Should I replace the whole thing for a better than OEM model, or get it repaired? Thanks.

The ujoint failed? Or the driveline itself? UJoints are a wearable item and go bad eventually. Fairly straightforward to replace.

Unless when it failed it rounded out the yoke then need to replace the driveline or yoke in my experience.

Maybe take a picture and post it here?

If the u joint broke. Fix it and go for it.

my drive shaft broke because I couldn’t take out the carrier bearing out and broke it.

went with Tom woods drive shaft……sucked paying $700 but problem solved.

I know this first part of my response is an obvious one, but it depends on your budget. If I had to do it all over again when it comes to the driveshaft, I'd just fork out for a brand new OEM one in its entirety and be done with it. Just my 2 cents bro....

Fix all u joint and center bearing cheapest option. Other option is about 1000 for a dorman, 1300 spicer. Chinese aftermarket are smaller diameter.

It's already at my mechanic. They said the shaft itself is OK. Replacing all the U-joints & balancing the shaft. Seems like I got lucky and don't have to replace the whole thing.
