Hi, I just got the 2024 Tacoma limited. It had 5 miles on it when I got it. The dealer filled the tank and it read 265 mile range till empty. Now, this truck is supposed to have an 18.2 gallon gas tank. I thought that seemed low so I drove a total of 231 miles, it read 40 miles till empty so I filled it again. It only took 11 gallons of gas. I got 18 miles to the gallon. So shouldn't it take more than 11 gallons to fill when it is down to only 40 miles of gas left in the tank? I have also researched the reserve on it which I found to have a range of 50 miles on reserve so that tells me the reserve tank is approximately 2.5 gallons based on the 20 mpg manufacturer. By my calculations, from empty to full, 18.2 gallon tank the mileage range should be around 365 give or take a few miles. 265 is a full 100 miles off. Can this possibly be and 18.2 tank? Is there a blockage? When any of you got your tacoma's what range did your first tank show? All new tacoma's have the 18.2 tank so it shouldn't matter if its an off road. Input would be greatly appreciated!

First off, Welcome to TW. Second, I am not sure about the tank capacity of a 2024, but the 2023 model I have has a 21.5 gallon tank. I would be surprised if they went to a smaller tank but who knows.

You may want to try posting this question on the 4th generation thread. There is a better chance someone can answer that question for you.

You should put gas in it before the low gas light comes on.

They did go to a smaller tank.
