Have you looked at ATV basket racks? This one looks similar, but cheaper. You may need to modify how it mounts.

I've always called them a yard tool, perfect for getting a yard ready to put grass seed on.

 

I saw this on here I think, my loader has a pipe for a brace so I put a chain in PVC and stuck it in there. I need to make a latch to secure it.

 

That's certainly better priced, but I kinda want to build it myself. As the CK line has the fuel tank on the back behind the seat putting a rack on the ROPs could interfere with refueling unless I mount it really high up on the ROPs. I've been thinking about mounting a basket across the loader mounts in front of the steering wheel.

 

John Deere makes these toolboxes, I had two of them so I mounted them on both sides of my loader frame. They have a tray that can hang on the front and a pin that pulls out so you can take it off the bracket and you can also lock them. I have tools and extra pins/bolts in them. They are out of my way. It has a Ford emblem I took off of something but they really are John Deere.

 

One other thing I've added was a fire extinguisher, the plastic bracket broke so I made one out of aluminum and lined it with foam. Mounted it on the ROPS.

 

That's an interesting idea. I've got a little plastic tool box that came with the tractor, but I've got several old metal tool boxes that could find new life on the tractor.

I don't know why I haven't though of putting an extinguisher on the tractor before this. I've got two in my truck and one in my car. That seems like it should be a no brainer...I should put one on the tractor and the ATV! I should probably put one in the barn too.

 

After catching my dads tractor on fire in a field in the middle of nowhere and being able to get it out, I have one on mine now...new poll.

 

I have both and like @KRAMERICA said, the box blade is probably the better pick if you can only have one for your use. Especially if you have a front end loader. Grader blade goes on for snow removal in the winter to compliment the FEL and then the box blade goes on in the summer for driveway maintenance. I've also rented a soil pulverizer attachment to seed large areas of grass but would never spend the money to buy one since they are such a one trick pony attachment.

 

I've put out an oven fire in my kitchen before, and I've used several extinguishers when I was driving truck to put out car fires. Out here the fire dept is a minimum of 15 minutes away. So any fire that I can't put out myself is likely going to destroy whatever is burning.

 

Well your kinda in the city. If I need to call fire dept. gonna take them 25-30 mins. fastest time to get to us all volunteer dept. Not to get confused with the TN college. I have 1 in the office where I used to keep my firearms before boating accident in the beaver pond. One in the kitchen, in the garage outside the kitchen, one in the Tacoma, one out in the work shop. Lets not forget the irrigation pump that can get dropped into the creek.
We live in a fire zone 9 total loss before fire dept. can get to us. But I like the idea of being on the tractor.

 

Went to Southern States today paid $1.70 for onion sets. And got a Tarter 100 Series Middle Buster/Sub Soiler Combo is Cat 0/1 hitch compatible and ideally suited to tractors 17-25 HP

As usual no pictures yet because I neve think about it and when I do it's out in the work shop. And I'm too lazy to walk over there and take a picture.

 

Build it yourself and it’ll be better built than buying one! If you think “Should I add a gusset here?”, you will, and it’ll be stronger.

 

I'm not much closer than you are. It's 8 miles from the nearest volunteer fire station to my house. So if there are volunteers at the station when the call goes out, they can be here in about 15 minutes. That's the best possible response time. The nearest 24/7 manned station is about 20-25 minutes way. If I have a serious fire I can't put out or at least limit the spread of, I don't expect there to be much left afterwards.

 

Fwiw I would just buy a HFT hitch hauler and fab it to where you want for an auxiliary basket. I think they are under $60.

 

I actually carry my 2" wide towstrap folded up & slid in there. It's never came out.
Keep a 20' chain in the tube on my counterweight box & then there's 30' of rope on the front winch.

Small fire extinguisher on my tractor but its just a 1lb'er. Not sure if its enough to do anything with.
Maybe if the tractor itself is on fire?

Any other fire I cause or find? Gets the front bucket treatment.

 

That's not a horrible suggestion. I need to check the cost of materials, but that might be comparable in cost for the basket.

 

I was thinking about equipment fires. Like electrical or over heated bearings. I've got an extra mount for a 5lb extinguisher in the garage. I'm going to find a spot to fit it on the tractor.

 

My dad lost a round baler to a bearing going out and catching fire.

His tractor that caught fire with me was due to the battery sliding and shorting out against the fuel pump. It was a big Massey Furgeson and it had two batteries, one on each side under the floor boards. Praise God I was able to get that out before it got out of control.
