I saw someone with a really nice set up using the Focal 8 inch mid bass in the doors
I will attempt doing my version with the Morel Subs.
    Has anyone done this before?
Option 1 was to add the 8 inch morels subs in the door but after carefully thinking I do not want to lose my 3 way front stage with the Audison Voce speakers
Option 2 is to maintain the dashboard 3.0 voces and the tweeters ready mounted on the slate moulding of the door.
I am so sold out on the more natural sound of the Audison Voce speakers that I ordered the Voce 3.0 midrange speakers to have a true 3 way set up and my C7 Jl audio mids and tweeters will be going in to my rear doors maybe sounds crazy for some people but I’ll give it a shot
    Any thoughts?

Remember the enclosure is just as important as the driver. 8” Subs in the doors could invite a whole lotta rattle. I’m not familiar with the config. of a ‘22 but subs & enclosure working together makes for a great sound.

i've got a set of those bmw subs on my parts shelf, they're oem take-off's from an m8, if memory serves. they're all over ebay all the time from junk yards.

i had the idea to use them about 4 years ago in a ranger build that never went anywhere, though had a similar requirement of being short on space, and trying to look factory.

they don't model all that well free-air, one of the worst 8" subs i've ever modeled, and while i can easily source new under-seat enclosures, there's tubes/openings coming off of it that i've never been able to verify the direction/length/purpose of. the enclosure is far too small by itself, so i know there's further magic happening, but can't say what it is.

Thanks for your comment; I’m inclining to build an enclosure however I do have a pretty decent amount of dampening material on all my doors so I may take a chance and rely on how good I can tune this woofer my goal is to get clean drums and clear punchy acoustic jazz bass out of them possibly between 80-800 hertz I don’t just want 125hz and below but higher rather

Got you, wel I’ll see how it develops, the thoughts I had is either in the doors, under the seats in an enclosure or under the rear seats in the storage compartment. I’ll update as I go

the other thread reminded me that i had saved my run of the oem bmw 8" sub on my DATS v3.

while i would expect the morel to be slightly better performing, this should give a baseline of what the enclosure was tuned around-- from my research, there are really only 2 variants of enclosure that were offered over the years, with both having two openings extending out the front of the enclosure going 'somewhere'. maybe it's to an aperiodic vent? maybe it's just a simple port? i've been trying to locate a similarly-equipped junkyard bmw in a pick-n-pull lot to investigate the pathway under the carpet, but haven't found anything yet.
