Getting ready to hoist the cab off of my 07 dcsb. My question is will the four holes in the head support the motor/trans/transfercase together as a unit to set it in the new frame? Or should I split it? Thanks.

Id feel more comfortable slinging the entire assembly.

I'm not sure what 4 bolt holes you are referring to.

I wouldn’t necessarily trust unused threaded holes in the head to hoist the trans connected to the engine unless that’s in the factory manual. At least get a sling on the trans in addition to a load leveler on m12 bolts in the head. M10 if absolutely necessary.

Way easier to get everything positioned as one unit. What are you using to lift the power train? A engine hoist will work but its gonna be tricky to balance it correctly cause the hook would need to be near the bell housing.

I lift the unit and trans with 3 points, I use a strap around trans, then mate it with the engine bolted to the large bolts I can find.

The factory lift hook uses 2 12mm head bolts to the head, but without the hook you should be looking at larger spots.

I figured I would have at least a 3 point hook, I was just gonna use the four holes in the heads and tie something like a come a long to the transfer case , along with a second person for balance, unless I am seeing things wrong I have seen two non threaded holes molded into the head on each side. A four point hook with a leveler and then one around the trans or t case. I appreciate y’all’s responses, I’ll have to take a picture of my redneck “hoist” y’all will get a chuckle out of it

Thanks it worked better than I figured it would at it didn’t cost me anything but labor!
Bought this truck for the motor cause I thought my 05 had head gasket issues(which it still may) then I ran across a frame that would work, so I decided to do the swap.

Very impressed and intrigued by your diy body lift, can you post more pictures of how you've set it up?

I thought it would be more “tippy” but it’s not at all, I cut about 1/4” deep groove in each of the 4x4’s where it kinda locked into the lip on the bottom of cab, you could do this outside as well, but I have tall ceilings and the weather is nasty out.
