What's My Name?

Just a curiosity of mine. Who else gives their vehicle(s) names? Growing up in a large family, we had many vehicles (about 12 at most) and different brands but Dad was partial to Ford. Color, manufacturer, model just didn't work; too much overlap. We had to give proper names to our vehicles to easily identify them. It's a habit I have kept and passed on to my kids. We have Beverly, Sybil, Peggy Sue, Crusher II, Blue and Sarah. Anyone else follow this custom or practice? We name boats and planes, but cars and trucks maybe yes, no? Always a female name for your vehicle?

 

Mine is red and I am a Alabama Crimson Tide fan. So mine is called Big Al

We did name our robot vacuum Alice?

 

No name for my Tacoma but I do have a white Porsche 911 named Shakira cause....

 

I have always given my cars names, I try to use some of the letter of the make or model. My Tacoma is Tammy, I had a Ram 1500, Raquel & I have a Chevrolet I named Cheryl.

 

I don’t make a practice of it, but sometimes names happen.


Motorcycle is named after ex gf’s twin sister, for comedic effect.
Taco has earned the name Bart, after eating gf’s shorts.


The frontier I’ve has since 2008 is called… the Nissan.

 

Yep. MGM tacoma named Maggie (Magnetic)...

 

And I named my bf's truck Sandy since it's a quicksand taco. He has since adopted the name too

 

This (or I) am crazy but years ago while standing quietly on my driveway near the back of the truck, clear as a bell I heard a male voice say “My name is Shark”. Shark it is.

 

I usually name every vehicle I get. I've only had the Taco for about a month and no name yet...yet!

 

Haha!! Yes, we name our vehicles. I choose male names, hubby chooses female names. Heck, he even names his guitars!!

Okay, so my Taco's name is Rocco.
Our 2000 Ford F150, is Tonka.
Hubby's Saturn Sky is Skylar.
Our RV is Fergie because it has too much junk in the trunk (basement). lol.
His white Indian Scout is Chenoa which means "white dove" in Native American.
Our Polaris Ranger side-by-side is Polly.

 

Cool! Many moons ago I had an MGB and I called her Maggie B.

 

I have 3 tractors I call the orange Kubota "Betty" the other 2 call me names, did not name cars or trucks just Betty

 

Do you name like your washer and dryer, maybe the fridge and TV?
