I'm upgrading my speaker system in my 2017 SR5, im replacing the door speakers tweeters, and adding a sub + amp. Im keeping the same head unit, but im mainly asking about the fuse box. Has anyone ever had problems with fuses blowing due to speakers/sub upgrades?? I had a little fixable problem where I was blowing fuses with shitty after market tail lights and just hope that won't happen. Is it recommended to upgrade the fuse box and put in bigger fuses.

    Shocks. Pegs. Lucky.
Bigger fuses in the fuse box = bad idea. You don't plan on running an amp off the factory wiring, right? You need to take that right to the battery. And fuse as close to the battery as possible.

Yeah I’m concerned that you mentioned a subwoofer amp and the fuse box in the same sentence

there's some known issues with blowing out the oem radio's amp chip, but it's mostly related to overheating issues, and not speaker changes. there's no adjustment you should be making to your factory fuses. in this case, your new amp will have a new power wire ran off the battery, with it's own new dedicated fuse. but in audio or lighting gear, any non-factory additions are always ran separately to the battery for power, and fused independently of the oem gear. the only part of the factory power wiring that will be utilized is the key-on power to indicate to the equipment when to turn on, and should remain at it's current fuse rating.

never. and anyone that ever offers this as a solution to any problem is someone to run very far away from.

fuses, and the boxes that contain them don't actually care what size fuse is installed. the ratings and specifications of why a particular fuse must be installed in a particular location/purpose is specifically related to the devices and wiring that runs throughout the vehicle that the fuse supplies power to.

fuses are installed with which the final device drawing power consumes about 70-85% of the fuses rating. ie; a 8A device would get a 10A fuse, etc. this is specifically done so that as long as the device is operating correctly, the fuse allows power to pass. but as soon as the device fails and attempts to pull more power than the wiring is capable of, the fuse pops to protect the entire vehicle from melting down, or causing further damage to other items---many wires are bundled together in many locations, so one wire in the very center f a bundle melting down can easily cause a myriad of other issues by melting other wires in the process.
