    Hi all,

2013 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab. Just got her back from annual rust check and getting a pretty good chirp from the belt. Side note during a pretty significant temp swing a couple weeks ago I observed a light chirp that resolved itself in a couple days. This time it's pretty prominent. Will give the rust check fluid a chance to dry and monitor over the weekend and send her back to the garage next week worst case. Wondering if overspray from the fluid maybe causing belt to slip.

Any suggestions what could be making the belt chirp? Recently replaced alternator and tensioner and idler pulley (6 months ago).

    Thanks!

Probably just got a little over spray on the belt. I would just used a rag with some dawn and hot water and clean it up real good, the pulleys too! Start it up, Rotate the belt , do it again.

Thanks for response! The boys at garage recommended brake cleaner. after a phone call Spray generously while running. Seems to be the easier route. I've read mixed reviews online that brake cleaner could damage belt.

It would be better to use something that will evaporate like brake clean vs say simple green or something.
A mild evaporative cleaner would be best and easiest
