I have their panel on my last Tundra, and it works great, held up great too under heavy offroad uses for 2 years.

 

Looks like I just missed the group buy,, following

 

Got my panel yesterday and weather is looking good so may install this sooner than I thought. But I forgot about the clear hood protector film that came from the factory. I recall someone mentioned this in another thread but I can't find it... @jeeper do we have to remove the clear bra film in order to lay down the vinyl sheet or what do you suggest there? I'd really like to keep the clear film if possible since it does seem to protect against rock chips quite well. Just not sure how all these things play together.

 

We generally don't recommend installing the panels over top of a pre-existing vinyl as we've found that the tape adheres best directly to the paint. There are so many different variations of vinyl's and some work fine, while others don't.

That being said there are lots of customers out there who have gone ahead and installed the panel over a vinyl and been totally fine. So its really up to you! We just cannot guarantee the tape will adhere as its supposed to.

Should I add additional

3M VHB on the panel?
Also, I was advised to add silicone along the edge to prevent dust, water and other elements from getting underneath the hood.

I haven't had a chance to install mine yet. Thinking about returning it now because it's cheaper from the fucking website than the "deal" we got with the group sale. (A little bitter about it if you can't tell )

 

That’s a poor attitude and I’m guessing you are one of those customers that vendors really won’t be upset to lose. Nobody forced you to commit to the group buy. At the time it was the best price. Now you are salty about what a $30 difference? It’s months later now and you still have your hands on a quality product. I’ve spent more than $30 on a takeout pizza last week, just enjoy the damn thing and realize you don’t have psychic powers to predict the future.
