    Good Morning!
Everyone is apeshit about this eclipse. People coming up from 7 hours away in NYC to be in the 'Totality" swath.
In other news apparently people felt the earthquake in Sewercuse- I felt nothing up here in the country.

Good morning. The wife and I are making our monthly trip to Costco this morning. Regarding the eclipse, my grandson's school was going to issue a pair of eclipse sunglasses to each student but found out they may not be adequate to protect the eye, so I guess none of us will be looking at the sun. I believe our location is something like 98.3% covered. Many are coming to the area just north t get the full effect. I hear all the hotels in Erie are full for Monday.

    Morning all

Where is the driveway? It's nicer over at your folks house, I like the camper here
Phone camera, welding mask or 2 pieces of paper, put a hole in one piece of paper and hold it about a foot over the other. You should see a image of the eclipse on the lower paper.

Wife and I bought a Costco membership and I'm still trying to figure out how to plan a trip there. You can't really make a list and expect to pick up everything. There aren't any signs marking what's in an aisle. Do you all just figure out over time where everything is? When I go by myself I end up wandering every aisle and grabbing things that are useful.

I did buy a TV there with great warranty coverage, so there's that.

I went down to Grand Teton Park in 2017 for the eclipse then. It was the busiest that I’ve ever seen the park up to that point (been equally insane every summer since COVID). It was worth the drive though, pretty cool thing to see.
And I went down to Idaho last October for the eclipse then. Got to about 90% coverage there. Weather was too much of a gamble for me to want to travel any further.
But, yes it is worth it IMO to travel a bit to experience it.
I actually bought a pair of real glasses last year - plastic frames. Now if I can just remember where I packed them…

Earthquakes can be scary. 4.8 is minor here, but the older crust that is the east coast will transmit the shaking differently from the west coast. Our crust is warmer and less dense so it takes more shaking before damage happens.
Still not as bad as a blizzard that takes out the power for a week.
