    5" huh?

I live in a 3D world, I'll assume 1/4" or so for the thickness. Still need 1 more number

Attached are the pictures. On the driver side when I would make sharp turns the left front tire started rubbing on the skid plate. So I just took a grinder and cut off a couple inches. That allowed it to have a full, turning radius, like it did before. On the passenger side, the skid plate is shaped a little bit differently. It was installed correctly, and it had an alignment

Now I'm even more confused. There is no way that should have been rubbing.

I had no issues with it for the first couple of days after the lift. Then I was backing out of a parking stall and felt/heard some rubbing. I drove home without any issue. Then, backing out of my driveway I heard it again. Both times when I had wheel turned hard left. The skid plate was rubbing the tire. A large piece of the left side was hanging a lot lower than the right side. So, that’s when I looked at it, turned my wheels a couple times and came up with, just cut a few inches off the left side so it wont rub anymore. I thought it was a good idea but apparently others think it was stupid. But it worked and not issues since and not much of a modification to the skid plate at all really.

Are you confusing terms? How do you define “skid plate”? It looks to me like you might have trimmed the plastic on your bumper / wheel well, but the pictures are a bit confusing to me.

The skid plate left side flange was probably bent earlier from off-roading. Whatever, no harm no foul since most people replace the tinfoil skid in favor of something more durable.

Why didn't you get the Rough Country M1 monotube shocks instead of the N3 twin-tubes?

The highlighted red portion of the photo is the approximate amount of piece i cut off so it wouldn’t rub. It was most definitely metal and not a portion of the bumper.

I have my wife convinced that my pinky is 9 inches long so she has a reference point when talking to her friends.

Gotchya. You are the first person I have heard that needed to trim their splash guard to fit 33’s. Was it bent outwards?

I probably would just have removed the splash guard.

It definitely seemed bent and it’s pretty flimsy metal. So I mean I tried bending it back in place but it was just “rebounding” and i thought it would be an ongoing issue. That’s when I made the decision to just cut it. Maybe my original post made it seem like it was much more dramatic than it actually was, but i considered it a pretty simple solution and I hope the pictures finally paint the picture a little better. Eventually I would like to get a TRD branded front plate to replace it, and they are all cut much more narrow from what I saw so the rubbing wont be an issue at all. One thing at time though and I’m learning more each day.
