Bought a bottle of Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby 150 today. They had a one bottle limit. Not sure if I over paid but I’ll surely enjoy a mint julep from this bottle.

Hey all, two questions for the group:

    1. What was the first “high end” bottle of whiskey you’ve bought?

    2. What is your favorite $45-$65 go to easy drinker?

    Define "high end"?

Up to $65 I'll never pass on Russell's Reserve SiB.

    1. I started buying buying "local" bottles on my adventures, but usually younger bourbons in the $30-50 range. My first higher end bottle was probably finding Blantons at the grocery store during covid.

    2. Frey Ranch or Eagle Rare, probably leaning slightly towards Frey Ranch. Close 3rd goes to Michters.

My current favorite $45-$65 would be to choose from one of these three.

Eagle Rare for 1792 Single Barrel......good or bad trade? I know price wise its about the same now-a-days with Eagle Rare going up in MSRP. But value wise. Has anyone had a 1792 SB that made you want to try another one?

In my parts 1792 SiB is much harder to find than ER. And the bottle I’ve had I thought was delicious. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that trade.

JD Sinatra was my first bottle over $100 I bought.

Russell's Single Barrel in that price range but I'm just as happy sipping Coopers Craft 100 or Green River Wheated down in the $30-$35 range

    1. ECBP - was much more than I was used to paying for a bottle at the time.

    2. RR10 for the bottom of that range. Top end - KC12. I can still find it out of state for $64.99.

    1. At one point, it was a bottle of Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14yr Scotch. Then last year it was KC18.
    2. RR10 is good, I also like Wolcott Rickhouse Reserve - it’s a bottle I always have on hand and for a BP bottle @ $45, it’s a good sipper.

Couple bring homes from my recent KY trip. Didn’t hunt much, didn’t really have time. Visited a lot of distilleries in the Bardstown area. Bottled our own at Heaven Hill which was interesting. Batches are exclusive to it - the ECBP is a Y1223. Maker’s Mark was the favorite of the group by far. Absolutely beautiful place. Got to try a lot of limited releases and dip whatever we purchased.

damn, I’d be down for a trade on the 117 high angels if you’re not looking to keep 2

good snags tho! EWSiB no longer KY exclusive…total wine has them in stock right now, I guess production or demand made them change their minds
