Interior Lighting

So I finally got my dream vehicle a couple years ago; 2023 TRD OR Taco. Did the OEM halogen to LED headlight retrofit a week ago which worked perfectly, but I’m now looking to swap the stock bulbs on the interior to LED as well.

I know of DiodeDynamics, Meso Customs and VLED, but I’m looking for some experienced input as to what the better overall option is. I like the idea of the red/white option that Meso has, but I’ve read multiple mixed reviews on their overall quality and longevity issues.

I welcome y’all’s input!

 

Swapped in the Diode Dynamics LEDs on my 2021 TRDOR a few weeks ago. Lights are bright and we're easy to install. Shipping was fast. Honestly I couldn't really ask for anything better

 

Just remember that the led are polarity sensitive. If you put it in and it doesn’t light up, take it out and turn it around and it should work.

 

Did you choose the stage 1 or stage 2? I’ve not been able to find much on the difference between the two beyond DD themselves showing a small difference in brightness.

Yep I’ve found that out before the hard way on other projects. Was a head scratcher for a moment and then the “Oh… yeah.” kicks in.

 

Bought the cool white 6000K bulbs for the map lights and dome. I didn't purchase an entire interior set because I could care less about vanity lights.

These bulbs are materially brighter than stock. Wouldn't want anything brighter

 

Do yourself a favor and disconnect the battery before swapping out interior lights. Several have damaged the body module that's behind the driver's kick panel when replacing interior lights w/LEDs (you can find threads on this). Many circuits are ground switched so there's a hot contact even if the light is off.

I’ve had Meso’s dual color maps and dome for probably two years now. They stay on red most of the time, but no problem switching to white when I’ve needed. The white is plenty bright, I’m happy with them.

I've had their LED interior lamps in for 4 years....super bright.

 

I went with the Meso dual color led and honestly I’m a little disappointed. Throws out great light but the lights flicker unless the truck is off.

 

Any of you change the license plate lights. Read somewhere that the lights are too bright at night it makes it impossible to see where you are going when backing up towards trailer etc. I ordered Autogine 6000k white interior kit and comes 2 vanity, 1 interior, 2 maps, 2 license plate lights. I will know once they come if this is true. just saying

 

I went with Meso after having the Amazon specials for a couple years. Honestly, the Meso's are too bright. They just about blind you at night.

 

Changed my interior overhead lights to Rock Auto/ sylvania red LEDs

 

Grabbed this kit from CaliRaisedLed when I first got the truck in Aug 2021 and it's been great. Also, it's MUCH easier to replace the map lights by just pulling the overhead console down instead of trying to fish the bulbs out with it still installed.

Guess I've been one of the fortunate ones with the MESO pieces. I went with red/white up front and white on the back. I keep the front on red all the time to not mess with my night vision.
