So I verified with my vin number what year and specs my truck is. But I've gotten mixed information on what year the TRDs came out. According to the O'Reillys system, it's either a pre or xrunner. Yet...I have a "TRD sport" plastered on the back. Am I confused on what the TRD means? There's an Sr5 tag on it too but I know those can be bought after market. So basically, what I'm asking is, wtf is my truck?? Is the O'Reilly's system just stupid? It also has leaf springs for rear suspension. I'm pretty sure this thing has been modded to hell but idk anymore and it's been effecting what parts fit my truck when things break...

Is it two wheel drive or four wheel drive? How many lug nuts are on each wheel? 6 means Prerunner. TRD packages only came on Prerunner and 4WD models, so unless someone did a bit of rebadging, you do not have an X Runner.

The early TRD trims also included the SR5 badge, so they are both (later TRD models dropped the SR5).

TRD Sport is essentially an upgrade package, affecting the shocks, cosmetic items, seats, etc. on top of the normal SR5 upgrades (power windows and door locks, don't know what else for that year).

If you used Toyota's owner site where you get the spec sheet with your VIN, that's your best source of information.

TRD stands for Toyota Racing Development.

There were 3 different TRD packages that could be had on 2nd gen (05-15) Tacoma's. Earlier years could have a TRD package and also have the SR5 badges.

TRD Sport, TRD OffRoad, and TRD Pro (2015 only).

You can put your VIN in the Toyota owners website and get info on some aspects of the truck, anyone with TIS (including dealers) can put the VIN in and get the details of everything the truck was equipped with.

If you want to know what was available each year you can view the brochures here.

    Looks to me like base
TRD sport meaning 8.4” rear diff
    Linear springs
    Flares
    Yellow blue shocks
    Body paint rear bumper
    Probably a hood scoop

probably body color door handles and mirrors
    Cloth bolster seats

Old mech LSD or fake newer one

4x4 or 2wd is up to you. Look underneath and look for a switch.

    there you go.

don’t know about plastic painted things glued on and sticker. Not a fan of that. Removed mine. No purpose for it.

your avatar shows a high sitting double cab
And xrunners I think have a sticker, different bumpers, sit low, access cab
    So probably not an xrunner.

    prerunner typically means 2WD.

here’s another solution. No OReillys. The parts are typically not the best nor competitive in price.
There is nothing there you can’t get the same or slightly better from RockAuto for cheaper.
Wouldn’t call their system the best either. But depending on the part, difference might not matter. Or if you go to install and see it’s different, stop the job and return it.
quite frankly I’d rather look at what the computer is asking with them.

if you want to get more you’re having to give more than a picture of a tail light.

Xrunner *might* be SUA. I imagine it would make sense to do that. For one lower ride height.
Otherwise the trucks mostly come SOA.

if you have what I think you have
The difference between an OR at minimum
-no elocker but stronger rear diff. Can put a locker.
-stock springs linear instead of progressive
-OR has chrome bumpers no hood scoop
I think that’s pretty much it.

you said leafs. Check if the recall has been done.
If you do leafs shop around. Neighbor different truck leaf broke. He did not shop around. Paid more than he otherwise would have to get a stock pack instead of a better pack for what he uses the truck for carrying weight all the time.

I heard Pro came out 2015 only of 2nd gen. Don’t know for sure but I imagine TRD Sport or TRD OR was a possible option on any 2nd gen ever made through the 05-15 MY range.

It looks like you have a TRD Sport.
The taillights on your truck are not OEM. (Not that it matters).

Looks like you have a Sport model, unless someone went to some trouble to make it look like it's a Sport.

All of the models that had TRD Sport or Off-Road bedside stickers still has SR5 badging on the tailgate. Your fender flares and rear bumper are color matched. You should have a hood scoop and color matched grill as well.
