    I have the 6-speed manual, 3.5L 4x4 at 96k.

I've noticed the truck accelerating poorly at times. I'll step on the gas and the RPMs will go up but the truck will hardly be accelerating. I get this could be clutch slippage BUT it only happens in 4th, 5th, and 6th gear. 1-3rd gears are completely normally.

This started to happen about 2.5 years ago and I read up on the MAF sensor causing imbalances. I took it off then and let it dry; the problem went away until now. This time I took the MAF completely off, sprayed it with MAF Sensor cleaner, and put it back on but it didn't change anything.

Is there anything else this could be besides a bad clutch? Before I go venturing down the path of replacing the clutch.. I'll also add I absolutely feather the clutch, too big of tires and not enough gears, no regrets

What you're describing is clutch slippage.

Sounds exactly like clutch slippage. Does it in the higher gears because those are the gears that put more force on the clutch. It is hard to believe it’s been doing this for 2.5 years though and hasn’t slipped so much by now that it reached the point where the vehicle will no longer move in any gear.

Awesome didn't know that about the higher gears. Thanks for the input, guess I'm replacing a clutch

How can a clutch thats slipping last another 2.5 years? I'm assuming you have been driving it the last 2.5, so I'm a bit confused. I don't see a clutch lasting 2.5 years slipping, sounds off.

With that said, if my clutch lasts less than 300k I'll be pissed. I put 298k on my 1991 clutch, and that was me driving it from age 16.5 to 30. Drove much harder then. Yours at 98k, or maybe even 70k since first problem years ago, indicates something is wrong and just replacing the clutch may not fix the problem long term.

it sounds like clutch slippage, but as mentioned, it is strange you'd get 2.5 years out of a slipping clutch. Most would also smell it, usually doesn't take much.
    Any modifications?

OP only has 96K miles on a 2016 so it's not driven very often. He also mentions feathering the clutch, which causes more wear.

Like I said, 2.5 years ago (yeah roughly 70k miles) all I did to stop the slippage was air out the MAF and the problem went away. I really couldn't tell you, that's why I brought it to here, just weird. I had another 3g Taco buddy have his clutch burn out at 60k... but he definitely was popping it trying to climb out of a creek bed

Didn't smell anything the first time around but I definitely smell it now when I hammer it down. Maybe the first time was engine hesitation from the MAF Sensor and this is legit clutch slippage ? Not sure
Just usually mods: bumpers, racks, 33s.. nothing to drivetrain besides ecgs in front and rear air locker

Yeah but I really started driving more 3 years ago when I switched jobs. It was probably 35k miles less back then. But yes, gotta feather it to spin the 33s so I'm guessing it is the clutch
