    Hey gang,

I'm not proud to admit I'm a poser, so I have no issues asking the question. I love the look of the all terrain tires, but I don't do any offroading. The most I do is a few mile jaunt through a national forest to get to a campground a few times a year. I think this road would be considered a fire road.

I also only have a 4 cylinder 2 wheel drive so I don't want to add a ton of weight.

So, what tire might suit my poser needs when in reality I usually drive in town. I guess considering I live in Louisiana most of our roads are bad enough to be considered off road lol. Thanks for any insight everyone!

people still buy K02s and never see dirt. find something you like and see if it comes in a C-load or whatever has the fewest amount of plies (plys?). you'll save weight that way and have the sickest truck in the mall parking lot. no cap. frfr.

I respect the honesty! What about the Falken AT4W? It looks cool, everyone loves it so far and it’s really good in the wet and snow so it’s practical for daily driving.

Other good options could be the SL rated Baja Boss or the General Grabber ATX. You also might want to check out Cooper’s line of AT tires. The XLT is super beefy looking but allegedly very good on the road. Never run it myself though.

I would say start with deciding what size tire you want and then looking for the lightest AT in that size and looks cool enough for you. Tire rack or discount tire websites can help make it easier to compare.

    Check out Tire Rack: https://www.tirerack.com/content/tirerack/desktop/en/homepage.html

You can enter your tire size, see & read reviews/specifications about different tires.
Personally I like the white letter look.

Toyo AT III are about the lightest AT you will likely find. And they look good IMO

Tire rack lists them at 39lbs

I don't personally have any experience with them but the Nitto Nomad Grappler appears to fit your description. I'm considering them for my next set but haven't been able to find anyone who has put them on a Tacoma to get any feedback/review.

Just so you are correct in who you are, You are a poseur. A poser is someone who is striking a pose.

Agree with KO2. Especially if they have an SL rated version (I don't know if they do.)

Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek is perfect. I got a set of 265/70R16 (tire weight is 41 pounds) for my SR 4-banger 4x4, with KMC Trail wheels. The whole setup is about the same weight as stock steelies with highway tires. No effect on MPG and pretty quiet rolling down the highway. Truck really turns heads at the mall now. :D

Stick with a P tire. Stay away from LT. An LT tire will generally have much higher rolling resistance and will slow you down, waste your gas, help you feel every crack in the road, and waist your money.

Also note that AT tires are good on snow covered roads, not just non-roads. This is maybe not important to you in Louisiana, but I thought I would mention it.

Final word… if you really want to look cool, get some mud terrains.

Outing yourself as a poseur causes you to lose poseur status.

That being said, leading off the thread with a dose of self-deprecation likely saved us a plethora of snarky replies, which puts the concept of forums in general at great risk of extinction.

And FWIW, I don’t think you’re posing, or frontin’, or even ballin’ on a budget.
