never been a fan of putting a bunch of dielectric grease. If a connector is sealed shouldn’t need it. Worst case maybe light coat.

probably better stuff out there like you said. De-oxit is one that I heard is great.

only ever really used it on my tow plug as a quick fix where major corrosion was a problem I don’t know why. Because it also has a seal. Maybe it sneaks in from the cap where the terminals go through holes in the plastic housing with air gaps.

Correct. The dielectric grease is for the rubber seal areas of the connector.

I stand corrected. Reading up on proper usuage of dielectric grease, DG, the experts say not to coat the contact points. I do read instructions and my Permatex DG tube, which I’ve had for fifteen plus years, has conflicting instructions, or I don't know how to follow directions. See pic below. It states to coat both parts of the connection and to maintain metal to metal contact. It doesnt state not to coat the mating surfaces. I think one reason I’ve never had connectivity issues is because when I bolt down connections I always twist the bolts as I am tightening them. Thanks for pointing this out though. I will definitely adjust the application of DG.

Well obviously what you are doing works, but it isn't the optimum method...
