My fiancee is on her second CX-5. She got a 2023 Carbon Edition last August. Great vehicles. Less boring/appliance-like than a Rav or CR-V and arguably just as reliable. The only issues we had with her 2016 up to 100,000 miles were rear shock mounts disintegrating (replaced the shocks at about 95k and they come with the mounts) and a noisy power seat ($15 spring rod thing and 5 minutes to swap it).

We never drove the 3/30 or 90. She likes the size of the 5 - feels the 3 is smaller than she'd like and the 90 is just unnecessary when we don't have kids and I have a truck.

Here it is when leaving Maine with it during the snow storm a couple weeks ago. I averaged 33 MPG hand-calculated throughout that trip:

I had a Mazda 3 before the Taco and this sounds spot on. I don't have a picture but my rear shock mount ate it too. I had about 85k on it when that happened, I just replaced the little mount, was easy enough.

Mazda doesn't have a luxury brand, so a lot of the little bits and bobs that are usually "reserved" for the highest trims or luxury lines like Lexus and Acura are spattered throughout Mazda's lineup. If I was going back to a hatchback it would be a second gen 3 for sure. I don't like how sloped the hatches have become as of late. I still like the Golfs though.

I read that they're trying to become a luxury brand. Right now, if you're looking at Ford-Mercury-Lincoln as an example, they're kind of like what Mercury was.

My only real complaint is the seats in hers. They're pretty stiff and I have to lower them more than I'd like to get the front to tip up enough. They also don't have enough lumbar support. They aren't as bad as a friend's Forester, though - I genuinely don't know how he drives that long distances - it feels like you're sitting on a park bench.

I'm pretty picky with car seats, and thought the Tundra seats were pretty bad in the 2023 I drove too. I am used to plush F-150 seats that'll adjust in any way you want - they aren't quite Volvo level, but are some of the closest I've found.

I would say this Mazda is similar to what my OR Premium is in terms of luxury. Infotainment system is alright - the Bose speakers aren't the best. Seats are comfortable. Sunroof has twice the glass as my 4Runner, but only opens half as much. The transmission isn't the smoothest, especially during taking off from a light. Ride quality is alright.

I’ve said it before but my wife loved her CX-5. The only reason why we didn’t get another was she had wanted a JGC since high school and we were in the position to get one (thank you new car replacement!) but she said she’d get another Mazda in a heartbeat.

That thing was stupid fun to throw into the turns for being a CUV. I got used to the console mounted radio controls fast and really enjoyed them.

One thing I liked about the Grand Cherokee for the couple days I had it, is that it was quick for being a NA V6. The speakers sounded good too. I didn't like the dial gear selector, and I didn't like that everything was controlled through the Infotainment system.

Wow! I was going to say some of that rust under the HDMP might have been some bleedover from untreated, but then I saw the back side and how you can see the stark line at the WW...

    That's really cool. @jpereira2

I bet the woolwax team would love to see that too.

Yeah, I emailed them for giggles. I think the HDMP is better than nothing for e.g. fastener heads and stuff that isn't taking it right in the face, cause it isn't as messy, but I'll be honest I'm surprised at the poor performance.

I was going to say.... lol. I use WW on all my vehicles and trailers. I do use HDMP on surfaces that are exposed to my children on the 2 trailers. They like to touch everything lol.

I'm not. It's similar to what GM uses on their full size frames. Looks good for a couple years then just all flakes off.

Nice. That reminds me I need to check how the fluid film vs surface shield held up on my truck.
