Wake me up when this happens, figured bringing the MT back would be at least something to differentiate the 4R from the new Land Cruiser. Especially now that theyve gone back to the glory days of making the 4R a Taco with a hat, you'd think it would be easy enough to make work - maybe taking the ECU from the Taco with the Tranny?? lol

    Off topic.

I think it's hilarious when morons appoint themselves the arbiter of where Threads should be posted because they are "off topic". And then make multiple, repeated, posts that have nothing to do with the thread they are posting in... complaining that the thread is in a category it doesn't belong in.

I wonder if I'm the only one that sees the profound level of irony in that.

Interesting that Toyota made the new 4Runner have a longer WB, and less ground clearance. As with the 4G Tacoma, I expect that it will also be heavier. Pretty sweet.

It will be similar to 4runner. Just like before 4runner 4rd gen and Taco 2nd gen were similar, they had same engine, same transmission, similar looks. In this case engine is same too, they both have turbo 2.4-liter 4cyl

I just assume 4runner will be over 60K base model.. Highest trim topping 70K.

I saw your response. And I answered it. Maybe you missed that.

I said maybe he was just more comfortable posting here. But maybe I was vague in that.
    Here's an example:
If I were to post a thread in Photography section. 90% of those that would see and respond to that thread would be people I have never interacted with.
If I were to post in the 4Runner forum... same thing would apply.
If I were to post a thread in the Alabama section... same thing would apply.

I said maybe OP was just more comfortable posting in a section he was more familiar with.

I also said, what does it matter? This is a Toyota forum after all and the 6th Gen is being discussed in quite a few of the sections due to the fact it's brand new and re-designed after 15 years.

Maybe this is just too much for you to understand. But, for the second time, I answered you. And this time I even dumbed it down so you could (maybe) understand.

Which begs the question... Are you here to be on subject? Or are you just too hung up on the location of the thread to be able to add anything to the discussion here?

Great point. With all the hand wringing over the transition to turbo 4-cylinder power, nobody mentions the SR20DET. Truly legendary powerplant that gave Nissan’s S-series chassis the reputation it deserves. I doubt there’s much, if any, similarity between the SR and new Tacoma powerplant, but the precedent is definitely there for brutal levels of power to be made from turbo four cylinder engines, and in the case of the SR, reliability to go along with that power.

    Yup.

And these are performance cars designed to be abused as well compared to the regular A-to-B econoboxes

That would be quite the jump in base price...20K might be a new record!

60k base, doubt it. That's more than a base Land Cruiser at 55k.

I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
Don’t get me wrong I’d drive the shit out of any of them, also I understand the “functionality” and reasoning behind a black fender flare but I can’t stand them.. Tacoma, 4Runner, sequoia all the new models, paint matched models look so much better..

Yeah. Really doubt the $20k increase in base MSRP

I’m thinking $42k-$45k would be the starting MSRP.

The video with DOug Demuro said the current 4R starts at 42k so I;m thinking 44k to 46k. We won't know until the fall.
