Hello! So I am looking to do clutch repair, and noticed my flywheel has hot spots, and the friction disk is warn down more than I think it should be with the amount of miles it has.

I've put on steel front and back bumpers, and 33" 15x11s, which has added a lot of rolling mass to it, and took any power 5th gear had.

I'm wondering if i should still stick with OEM clutch assembly, or if a "performance" assembly would be better for duration.

    Thanks in advance!

This is what I did. V6.
HydroTOB. It softens the clutch. Therefore it should have and be able to benefit from a stronger clutch.

got stronger clutch and better flywheel from URD. I don’t know why it seems no longer sold. Pray it lasts. I wanted stronger clutch, higher clamp force PP, and better flywheel. Got the URD heavy supposed to wheel and traffic better.

Hopefully if it’s no longer made there’s other stuff to choose from.
That being said stock gears on big tires is going to make it fight more than the tires themselves.

that truck probably came with 4.10 which may or may not be enough depending on tire size and motor that’s likely stock 4cyl.

you could try OEM if you want. I had an Exedy before it was generally fine. Great customer service.

just get good at pulling the trans. I took mine out like twice. If I have the truck for life I’ll probably have to pull it again. Oh well.
At least it’s not German with a bunch of shit in the way crammed in a shoebox.
