Unfortunately it could be a while since his con rod punched outside the block.

Yep, short block at the bare minimum but probably more than that since the contaminated oil got pumped through the heads and such.

I will be pretty disappointed if I don't receive a new long block. It ran for a solid 5 minutes after the rod popped out. Based on what I found on the dipstick, any oil fed cavity has to be riddled with metal.

Long blocks are not a thing. Toyota only sells/offers short blocks.

Lean manufacturing.. I'll be reviewing the list of parts ordered very closely.

I'll be extremely hesitant about reused components if there is no clear root cause for the failure. Hopefully the tech that sent me home with loose lug nuts calls out sick on assembly day.

The short block arrived. There's a new oil pump and a couple valves on order. Not sure how far they've gotten into the teardown.

I've asked for the following for peace of mind:
    - A confirmed root cause for the engine failure.
    - Picture(s) verifying concern caused by the aftermarket AC drain extension hose.
    - List of OEM replacement parts required to repair the damage.
    - Teardown and rebuild pictures.

    I’d appreciate pictures such as:
    - Damage evident after the teardown.
    - Any debris found in the oil pan, oil filter, or top end.
    - Unboxing of the new OEM short block.
    - Inspection of reused top and bottom end components.

Wow, thanks for the update. I wish Toyota just offered crated long blocks to get people up and running ASAP.

Yeah that would be nice...... but Toyota Lean Management won't allow it. High $$ inventory is seen as wasted resources producing, processing, and storing finished goods. A complete engine would also cost more to ship.

That's all fine and dandy until there's a major quality issue or one of your suppliers stiffs you.

Starting to feel at ease now that I'm seeing the amount of OEM goodies that have been ordered. The damage looks to be well to contained. Still no parts list in hand, but I expect that critical valve train components will be replaced. I assume that the heads and cams will be reused once inspected.

Greentree service has been good about keeping me in the loop. The valve pictures attached should be from the passenger side head.

Not the best picture, but it looks like something (hopefully just a pry bar) wreaked havoc in the oil pan.

I still don't have my truck back...

    June 19th:
There was a vacuum pump on back order. I got a call on June 19th stating that the truck was "ready". I left work immediately.
I arrived to find my truck's exterior filthy. I kept the loaner key and took my truck for a quick drive to a sunny parking to inspect it. Paint damage found all over the frontend.
Handed my key back and the service adviser called the shop. Come to find out.. truck wasn't ready and was unsafe to drive. She ripped them a new one which was mildly satisfying to listen to. We took pictures of the damage and I left in the loaner.
I sent an email to escalate the situation and state my expectation.
    - Clear coat on grille and fenders needs paint correction.
    - Bumper needs to be sprayed (touchup paint is unacceptable)
    - Truck must be washed the morning of pickup.

July 1st: Extended my lease to January.

    July 15th:
Got a call on the 12th to come pick it up. I scheduled pickup for Monday morning. The truck was clean and parked out front when I arrived. Sure enough... disappointment.
    - Touchup paint all over the bumper.
    - Clear coat damage was not corrected.
    - Found a dent on the PS front fender (by the a-pillar).
    - Missing and damaged mounting hardware in both front wheel wells.
I notified service and went for a walk to cooldown. The service adviser and a body shop rep (manager was on vacation) came out to take pictures. They were great to work with. I'm sending an email the body shop manager to escalate the situation and state my expectation.

I go to Greentree because I like the office staff, but it's become very clear that the inmates run the asylum at this location.

Dumping links for reference. I want the bumper inspected. I will not accept damaged/missing OEM body fasteners.
