Slider location question

    Quick question for those of you with some armor already installed, or with the knowledge!

    Roughly were in relation to the pinch weld do they sit?

    Centered below? Just outside?

    Would you be able to send a couple pics?


    I'm finishing welding up a set and I'm at the point of welding it to the frame, and am having a metal block at this point lol.

    Also, I did create a thread in the Armor section, it has some pics there for reference.

    I dont have a picture, but typically there are 3-4 tubes that extend perpendicular from the frame plates to just beyond the pinch weld. Once past the pinch weld, a horizontal tube that runs the length of the cab is welded to the perpendicular tubes as like the main component of the slider then the rest of the tubing is bent and welded to that.

    I'll get it a bit closer and a bit more angle as well, this is just a loose mock-up using jackstands and gloves lol

    I would recommend leaving a gap of about 1/2” between the slider support tubes and the pinch weld. Just enough for you to fit you fingers between. The cab will flex on the body bushings and if you weld your sliders too close they will make contact when your frame flexes, even while street driving. At best, it would be an occasional bump, but at worst, it’ll be a a constant thumping.

    Ok, sounds good. 1/2 below pinch weld, and not angled too high up that the access cab door cannot open.

    I'll probably leave an inch gap or so there.

    I'll mock it up on Friday or Saturday, get the angle, and tack it up!

    Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
    On my sets used to do 1/2” to 3/4” as Sergio mentioned. These truck flex crazy and bushings allow a lot of movement.

    I'll have to look at some more pics tonight, I feel that I'm envisioning them too close to the cab and that they need to be out further.

    I have large "figure 8" shaped plates that I'll weld to the frame, then attach the poles, and gusset.
